Job Summary:

Lead and oversee Extrusion department with a continuous improvement mindset and systematic approach to drive performance, safely. Steer cultural changes and develop leaders/teams to contribute at full potential. Have ability to structure long term vision for department aligning with business expectations. Apt to "move the needle", is results driven, and contributes to achieving annual business plans working with a high-performance team.

Required Education/Experience:


  • 10+ years of Manufacturing experience, preferably in the aluminum extrusion industry.





  • 3+ years of Leadership experience.





  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent Engineering Degree preferred or combination of technical school and experience



Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides a physically and emotionally safe, clean, and organized working environment promoting mutual trust and respect.
  • Builds high performing teams via development and/or knack to identify talent to hire/promote as necessary
  • Supports, drives, and emulates organizational core values - Care, Courage, Collaboration
  • Willingness to challenge status quo and drive positive changes in the department
  • Develops department targets/goals in support of overall plant strategy - ability to visualize short-term improvements along with long-term imagery
  • Leads department employees and operations to safely optimize press uptime, scrap rates, productivity, and performance through adherence to policy, procedures, and systems such as Run to Recipe
  • Tracks meaningful metrics in (preferably in SPC format), such as downtime, PPH, recovery, net output etc. to monitor trends and tendencies
  • Oversees quality systems and metal in department with solution-based responses/preventative measures to quality defects or customer returns; drive a compliance culture (i.e proper sampling process.)
  • Actively participates with commercial in customer visits/meetings as necessary and represents Hydro professionally and respectfully
  • Build system to achieve 10% total lost time; enter work orders and/or obtain proper resources needed when equipment is defective and communicates downtime events/length of estimated downtime to Plant Manager
  • Oversight of department expenses, direct labor. to ensure alignment with business needs and positive P&L impact
  • Attends daily MDI with lead team and communicates operational performance, key focus areas, and supports a solutions based approach to drive improvement
  • Involvement in critical business decisions/processes i.e Business planning, Capital investments etc..
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to apply at all levels of the organization
  • Strong conflict resolution skills to drive cultural unity
  • Understands department flow; including lot tickets, press schedules, tooling, log inventory levels, material handing at the saw, and through the age oven.
  • Supports press schedule and adheres to customer demand/needs through frontline leadership
  • Understanding/learning of Oracle and SCS operating systems
  • Cultivates a 'one department' culture and drives a 'one goal' mentality with other depts
