Watts is looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to support our Watts Applied Solutions business. Reporting to the Watts Applied Solutions Regional Controller, the Assistant Controller will partner closely with the finance and operational teams across the Watts Applied Solutions locations as well as the corporate functions teams. The Assistant Controller will manage the internal controls over financial reporting for Watts Applied Solutions, with collaboration from the corporate controllership group, working closely with internal and external auditors, and ensuring that all financial processes adhere to regulatory standards. The Assistant Controller will also be involved in the month-end close process reviewing and overseeing certain complex general ledger accounts.

You will:

  • Oversee the maintenance of SOX compliance programs, including the assistance with the development of internal control frameworks, when needed, documentation and testing requirements.

  • Implement and monitor internal controls over financial reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance with SOX requirements.

  • Coordinate and collaborate with corporate controllership group, internal and external auditors to facilitate SOX testing and audits, ensuring timely and accurate completion.

  • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential areas of non-compliance and develop mitigation strategies.

  • Continuously evaluate and improve financial processes and controls to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Establish and maintain documentation for process/business changes and standard operating procedures for the end-to end financial processes related to the changes, ensuring proper review and reconciliation of the related GL accounts.

  • Provide training and guidance to staff on SOX compliance and internal control procedures.

  • Prepare and present reports on SOX compliance status, audit findings, and remediation plans to senior management.

  • Monitor legal, tax and regulatory changes and trends to identify and implement necessary actions to secure continued compliance, while proactively identifying emerging opportunities and risks, making recommendations to management.

  • Participate in month end close by reviewing certain complex and judgmental general ledger account reconciliations and journal entries, ensuring proper support and documentation is maintained and any issues are resolved and addressed timely (eg. Warranty accruals, Inventory E&O, Inventory Capitalized Variances).

  • Project accounting for open projects, reporting and reviewing profitability of projects; working with the business to ensure timely billing and proper revenue recognition based on required milestones and completion of performance obligations.

  • Liaises with internal and external auditors

Management:

This position does not have any direct reports.

You Have:

  • BS/BA in Business, Finance or Accounting. CPA certification preferred.

  • 6+ years of prior experience working in accounting, finance or internal audit with large, manufacturing, multi-national, public corporations.

  • 3+ years of prior experience in public accounting is required. Big 4 consulting experience is preferred.

  • In-depth knowledge of SOX regulations and internal controls frameworks.

  • Experience with Section 404 Sarbanes-Oxley is required.

  • A strong understanding of GAAP, financial performance drivers, accounting principles, internal controls and financial systems is required.

  • Experience with Epicor, Glovia, SAP S4 Hana and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) is beneficial.

  • Excellent presentation, time management, collaboration, interpersonal and communication skills is required.

  • Advanced Excel skills including: vlookup, sumifs, pivot tables, ability to effectively manipulate and organize large amounts of data.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, talk, and/or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work in both office and manufacturing environment

  • Travel Required: ~25%
