Position Overview The Supervisor, Metrology will supervise, lead, train, and assist the Metrology team. This individual is the troubleshooting point person for equipment related escalated issues. The Supervisor, Metrology is expected to spend at least twenty percent of their time performing equipment preventative maintenance, calibration, and repairs in the lab on custom, complex, and off-the-shelf laboratory instrumentation. Essential Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Act as the primary source of contact for the Metrology team; oversee day-to-day service of equipment.
- Ensure ample employee coverage for day-to-day workload needs to ensure on-time execution; recommend approval or rejection of requested time off.
- Perform calibration, preventative maintenance, or repairs on custom, complex, and off-the-shelf laboratory instrumentation.
- Provide timely and transparent communication to leadership; including establishment of effective metrics for management review.
- Review, update, and develop SOPs, workflows, and training programs.
- Keep all documentation up-to-date to meet the Quality Management System and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with the Validation and Quality Engineering groups to develop and execute equipment qualifications.
- Work closely with the Technical Service team to provide service requirements and potential operational improvements.
- Coordinate training of new employees.
- Escalate service concerns, as appropriate.
- Monitor and respond to incoming support requests by cross functional teams or other communication that requires Metrology.
- Promote customer satisfaction through problem solving, clear and effective communication, professional appearance, and efficient repair/maintenance activities.
- Track all service activities utilizing system(s) developed in accordance with service policies and procedures.
- Ensure all service documentation is complete, timely, and accurate following Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
- Maintain and continuously develop personal knowledge and expertise related to the service of complex laboratory equipment.
- Manage budgets.
- Work with the Manager to establish clear service level expectations, monitor performance, and provide timely and active communication to vendors.
- Lead the team in continuous improvement projects and support other areas needs dependent on demand.
- Supervise staff; including, but not limited to, organize and prioritize work, write/conduct performance reviews, train/develop, and manage work performance.

- Continuous eye/hand coordination, close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability and means to travel between Madison locations.
- Ability to travel 5% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Technology, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; or High School Degree/General Education Diploma (GED) and 4 years of relevant experience as outlined in the essential duties in lieu of Bachelor's degree.
- 3+ years of experience in an instrument service industry.
- 1+ years of experience in equipment calibration, metrology, or testing laboratory that performed a variety of physical, chemical, or other quantitative analyses.
- 1+ years of experience leading or directing people and/or project teams.
- 1+ years of experience working within a regulated environment.
- Demonstrated ability to perform instrument installations and qualifications per service policy and/or manufacturing recommendation.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with equipment qualification.
- Experience in biotech manufacturing, preferably in a GMP and/or ISO 13485 environment.
- Knowledge of ISO 17025:2005 and 21 CRF Part 820 requirements in regard to inspection measuring and test equipment.
- Familiarity with equipment service management software.

Salary Range: $82,000.00 - $130,000.00
The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - CA - San Diego on a full-time basis. In addition, this position is bonus eligible, and is eligible to be considered for company stock at hire and on an annual basis.
