Cloud Software Engineer - Cyber Intelligence

Are you passionate about building cutting-edge software that runs on massive compute clusters? Ready to make a real impact in the world of Cyber Intelligence? Peraton is looking for a Cloud Software Engineer to join our high-performing team in Laurel, MD-and we want someone like you.

What You'll Do:

As a key player on our Cyber Intel team, you'll help design, build, and optimize mission-critical systems. You'll work on everything from developing new features to testing, tuning, and sustaining cloud-native applications that operate at scale. This is a hands-on role in an agile environment with a strong focus on modernization and performance.

Note: This position includes after-hours/on-call support, so we're looking for someone with a commitment to mission readiness.

What You Bring:

We're looking for a software engineer with strong cloud and backend experience. If you check most of these boxes, we want to hear from you!

Core Skills:

    Proficiency in Java for distributed systems (bonus points for networking & multithreading experience)

  • Hands-on experience with Cassandra and Spring Framework

  • Spark expert? Even better-we need people who know how to develop and manage Spark jobs

  • Familiar with Kubernetes for deploying scalable, resilient apps

  • Kafka or RabbitMQ for messaging pipelines

  • Experience with streaming analytics (e.g., Apache Flink)

  • Comfortable building and implementing REST APIs

  • Solid experience in Agile development environments

Technical Toolkit:
  • Linux fundamentals + scripting chops (Python, Ruby, Perl-you pick)

  • Version control with Git

  • Familiarity with Maven, Jira

  • CI/CD pipelines using Bamboo, Jenkins, or GitLab CI

  • Monitoring & alerting with ELK Stack, Nagios

  • A Cloud Developer Certification is a major plus

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

  • An active TS/SCI security clearance with Polygraph is required.
  • Eight years of experience in software development/engineering, including requirements
    analysis, software development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, testing, and problem diagnosis/resolution.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or in a related technical field is required. NOTE: A degree in Mathematics, Information Systems, Engineering, or similar degree will be considered as a technical field.
  • Without a degree we can accept four additional years of experience.
  • A Master's degree in a Technical Field will be considered equivalent to two (2) years of experience, bringing down the minimal requirement to six total years.
  • One of the following Cloud Certifications are required: AWS Certified Developer - Associate, AWS DevOps Engineer Professional, Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)

Target Salary Range

$146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
