Patient Care Technician CWR

The role is responsible for assisting registered professional nurses in the care of patients. The position involves performing essential functions to support patient care.

• Welcome patients and verify proper identification bracelets.
• Prepare patients for assessment/admission, physical examination, and procedures.
• Draw intravenous or capillary blood from newborn through geriatric patients using proper aseptic collection techniques, ensuring appropriate labeling and processing of specimens.
• Perform EKG for patients as directed.
• Ensure the presence, functionality, and cleanliness of all necessary equipment.
• Assist in the transport of patients to departments or units upon request.
• Assist with meal preparation and feeding as necessary.
• Check inventory of assigned area and restock as directed.
• Prepare the room environment for admission.
• Provide direct hygiene and comfort care to patients, including bathing, toileting, oral hygiene, incontinent care, and bed making.
• Take vital signs on admission under the direction of the RN, document accordingly, and notify the RN of results.
• Perform and document glucose finger sticks and collect other specimens as directed.
• Obtain and document daily patient weights and observe and document patient's intake and output.
• Provide a safe patient environment by answering call lights promptly and communicating with the RN immediately for any change in the patient's condition.
• Identify the needs of the patient population served and modify and deliver care specific to those needs, including age, culture, language, hearing, and/or visually impaired considerations.
• Communicate with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).

Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

• Maintain current BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
• Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, or Patient Care Technician with certification in Phlebotomy, EKG, and nursing assistant course in both theoretical and clinical settings, or proof of education completion.

• At least one (1) year of experience in a hospital setting is strongly preferred.
• Skills: IV, phlebotomy, EPIC

Med Surg/Tele UNIT- 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM. 3 x 12hr shifts every other weekend. Holiday required. No on-call. Must
