Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to support our Transportation Engineering team by designing, developing, and maintaining robust data pipelines, analytical tools, and visualizations that enhance transportation systems planning, modeling, and performance analysis. You will work closely with Transportation Engineers to turn complex datasets into actionable insights, supporting infrastructure projects, traffic modeling, and operational efficiency initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with Transportation Engineers to understand data needs and deliver scalable solutions.
• Develop, manage, and optimize data pipelines using Microsoft Azure Data Factory and Azure Databricks.
• Design and implement data models and analytics using SQL, DAX, and M languages.
• Build and maintain visual workflows and dashboards for data analysis and reporting using flowchart tools (Visio, Miro, Draw.io, etc.).
• Leverage Python (Pandas, Matplotlib, etc.) for data analysis, modeling, and automation.
• Manage cloud data infrastructure using the Microsoft Azure ecosystem (Automation Accounts, Storage Accounts, SQL Server).
• Integrate and manage data sources from the Snowflake ecosystem.
• Develop and deploy scripts and notebooks using VSCode and Google Colab.
• Use SSMS for database management and performance tuning.
• Ensure data quality, security, and compliance with engineering project standards.
• Translate engineering metrics and models into meaningful data narratives for technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of experience in data engineering or analytics, preferably in infrastructure or transportation domains.
• Proficiency in SQL, DAX, M language, and Python.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure tools: Data Factory, Databricks, Automation Accounts, Storage Accounts, and SQL Server.
• Experience working with Snowflake and managing data in a cloud ecosystem.
• Skilled in using visualization and flowcharting tools (Visio, PowerPoint, Draw.io, etc.).
• Familiarity with VSCode, Google Colab, and SSMS.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and project stakeholders.
• Experience supporting civil or transportation engineering projects preferred.
• Familiarity with GIS and geospatial data tools preferred.
• Knowledge of traffic modeling software and related transportation analysis tools preferred.
• Exposure to DevOps practices for data engineering preferred.
