National Grid is hiring an Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) Deployment Manager to lead the deployment of AMI metering devices across the NMPC Gas and electric service territory. The position is located in Upstate NY.
Job Purpose
The AMI Deployment Manager position is a great opportunity to join an exciting program, at the heart of modernizing meter technology. AMI is a foundational technology to enable our clean energy future and reimagine how customer's will engage energy management in the future. The role and supporting team are responsible for the planning, customer communication, coordination, execution, oversight and overall performance of all electric meter and gas module devices at the customer premise.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead a team to develop and implement a holistic deployment strategy of electric and gas meters across multiple stakeholders, in accordance with the defined project scope, schedule, and allocated budget
- Establish strategy and implement enterprise-wide approach to support the consistent, reliable, and cost-effective delivery of regional activities
- Ensure deployment operations are appropriately assessed, planned, resourced, and scheduled in a timely and cost-effective manner to ensure best value for National Grid.
- Make authoritative recommendations to provide solutions which harness new technology and techniques and have a significant impact on business performance in the short and longer term.
- Negotiation, evaluation and contract management third parties / suppliers including standards of work / levels of service to ensure best value for National Grid.
- Translate industry best-practice requirements into clearly defined business cases, standards, budgets, and risk assessments
- Develop bid specifications and assist in the procurement as necessary of materials and operations services
- Ensure project personally are properly qualified to perform work
- Lead the identification and formulation of strategic deployment objectives specific to electric meters, gas modules and gas meters
- Identify and evaluate deployment risks to develop comprehensive mitigation plans
- Coordinate with stakeholders such as Resource Planning, Resource Coordination, Procurement, Field Operations, Billing Operations, IT, and I&R to deliver programs effectively
- Sponsor software and enterprise updates, in coordination with IT, to improve data collection and future proof operations
- Ability to integrate and analyze data from multiple sources including CSS, Maximo, Tesco, PCS and GIS
- Partner with internal stakeholders and external partners to resolve gaps and align on meter deployment requirements in support of meter deployment.
- Support the operationalization of AMI functionality into business as usual processes
Knowledge, Experience & Technical Know How
- Knowledge of contract management, resource planning, resource coordination and customer meter/service operations
- Understanding of workforce management (Salesforce, Ensight) and customer system (CSS) data and process flows
- Experience managing large datasets to develop key focus areas to clear action planning
- Basic knowledge of electric and gas metering functionalities
- Manage and coordinate cross functional process steps critical to the delivery of large-scale projects
- Demonstrates the ability to translate National Grid policies into processes, procedures and peel back multiple layers of a problem and balance the value of different solutions; understands how best to utilize them to drive greater performance, considering the wider business context.
- Experience managing and integrating the work of a functional team / business unit
- Exhibits the ability to provide direction, the appropriate structure and effective resourcing to enable the team to deliver high performance.
- Flexibility to work remotely and with a team across National Grid operating regions
- Able to provide oversight and mentorship to operations supervisors and staff members and support them in delivering objectives and development goals
- Lead, motivate, and collaborate with a team of professional, collective bargaining unit personnel, and contractors to prioritize work and allocate resources to ensure that corrosion control services are workplans are delivered in line with expectations and business objectives including both annual and long-term TotEx plans
- Direct Reports: 4-6
Qualifications
- 10 (ten) years engineering or equivalent work experience required
- A Bachelor's degree in a business, engineering or science related discipline is preferred
- Demonstrated project management experience of large-scale programs preferred
- Experience leading cross-functional resources and a diverse group of stakeholders
- Ability to build and maintain project wide metrics to be shared with leadership
- Strong verbal, written, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to be flexible and agile to changing conditions
Salary $145,000 - $171,000 a year Salary commensurate with location and experience This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
