Summer Intern - Process Improvement Engineer (Distribution)
Location:Bridgeport, NJ
Department:Supply Chain / Distribution Operations
Duration:Summer 2025 (10-12 weeks)
Reports To:Process Improvement Manager
About the Role:
We're looking for a motivated and analytical Summer Intern to join our Distribution team as a Process Improvement Engineer. You'll support key initiatives aimed at improving efficiency, reducing waste, and optimizing processes in our distribution center(s). This internship offers hands-on experience in continuous improvement practices, exposure to logistics operations, and the opportunity to make a measurable impact in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze current operational processes and identify opportunities for improvement in safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Collect and interpret data using tools like Excel, Power BI, and/or SQL to support root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including warehouse operations, logistics, and engineering.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Lean and Six Sigma projects.
  • Document standard operating procedures (SOPs) and process changes.
  • Present findings and recommendations to leadership at the end of the internship.
Qualifications:
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or process mapping is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel; knowledge of Power BI or other analytics tools is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
