Harmony Biosciences is recruiting for a Director, Accounting Operations in our Plymouth Meeting, PA location. In this role you will provide leadership and oversight of the strategic and tactical aspects of the Accounting operations functions. This includes leadership responsibilities for travel and expense processing, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Cut-Off and Compensation related accruals, Balance Sheet account reconciliations, and management of third-party vendors. This position will also ensure that the Accounting operations function operates in a customer-focused manner providing proactive communication to employees and vendors across the various processes and functions supported by this team.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversees the daily operations of all accounting operations and finance groups and within the organization. Responsibilities include all Accounts Payable, Sales and Use Tax, Treasury, and Payroll. Accounts Receivable and billing will be added when a new ERP system is implemented.
  • Process owner for all financial accounting operations activities of the Company and its affiliates. Assists with the implementation, maintenance and review of internal controls and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Manages the administration and accounting for the company's credit card and travel programs
  • Oversees the payroll function including improving and maintaining documentation of processes and systems for payroll policies and procedures Creates and maintains ongoing partnerships with HR to ensure efficient operations across the departments and in accordance with all SOX requirements.
  • Will act as a key member of a team implementing new financial software - performing due diligence, process development, analysis of current and future finance needs, testing, implementation, training and hyper-care.
  • Ensures the Company's accounting and financial processes are in compliance with PCAOB, SEC and legal standards and in accordance with best accounting practices. Assists with internal and external auditor requests during quarterly reviews and annual audit.
  • Is a finance subject-matter-expert on all ERP processes which impact the AP/Payroll/Cash application functions and works closely with constituents in the purchasing/operations/ groups to ensure compliance with current policies and procedures, as well as to develop more efficient processes through increased use of ERP functionality.
    • Reviews payment disbursement packages for ACHs, checks, and wire payments and highlight material balances as needed
    • Maintains cash forecast and manage weekly cash position.
    • Manages compensation related accruals including bonus and commission, including preparation of related journal entries and reconciliation of General Ledger.
    • Manages and track all state tax correspondence and associated filings and monitors and supports taxation issues.
  • Identifies/investigates problems and issues; acts to remedy the problem and identify the cause/source. Thoroughly communicates to impacted stakeholders and then establishes preventative measures for the future.
  • Maintains a highly motivated, well-trained staff to ensure quality work and customer service to Harmony employees and vendors.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position has direct supervisory responsibilities over both employees and contractors (as needed)
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA designation is preferred
  • 10+ years managing accounts payable and related processes. Experience with payroll is strongly preferred
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience required
  • Must have demonstrated experience and knowledge working with and implementing Tier 1 accounting/finance software packages.
  • Demonstrated success in influencing and engaging stakeholders, building collaborative relationships while managing conflicting priorities
  • Strong communication skills; clearly conveys information through a variety of media (written, verbal, email, etc.)
  • Able to communicate effectively with people at all levels
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate to colleagues, business partners, and internal and external stakeholders
  • High ethical & quality standards and lives them through actions and communication
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, PowerPoint; Financial Systems includes ADP Workforce Now, NetSuite, Oracle, Coupa and Concur

Physical demands and work environment:

  • Travel is estimated to be 5% of the time for this position.
  • Flexibility to periodically work extended hours as needed
  • While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include: Close vision.
  • Manual dexterity required to use computers, tablets, and cell phone.
  • Continuous sitting for prolonged periods.
