JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State's Office of Strategic Communication (the University's central public relations and marketing division) seeks a part-time social media intern to join our digital public relations team and help create innovative and engaging content that aligns with division and University goals.

This position requires candidates to be current Penn State students at University Park campus. It requires 6 hours per week (including 4-5 in-office hours) at $12 per hour. Interns are expected to complete at least one project each week.

The intern will have the opportunity to:

  • Create content for a variety of social platforms
  • Participate in brainstorming new content ideas
  • Research emerging content trends in social and digital media that can be leveraged by our social channels.
  • Seek out colleges, departments, labs, student groups, and students who could be potential content collaborators
  • Assist with analyzing content performance
  • Attend campus events, as needed

The successful candidate will:

  • Be organized and detail-oriented
  • Be self-motivated
  • Have a passion for creating content that is on trend as well as unique
  • Have the ability to connect Penn State's goals and values to our overall content strategy
  • Have experience with video, photography, audio, and/or animation
  • Understand the current social media landscape
