Job Duties:
Summer At SLU Coordinator (temporary position) reports to the director of the Office of Summer and Extended Studies and assists in the delivery of summer K-12 camps and academies at Saint Louis University. Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Overseeing the check-in and check-out processes of summer camps and academies

  • Managing 15 student workers who serve as summer camp/academy counselors

  • Through direct supervision of the director of summer and extended studies, ensure that Summer At SLU camps and academies are in compliance with the University's Protection of Minors Policy and state and federal laws regarding youth protection

  • In collaboration with the director of summer and extended studies, ensure all summer camp staff have completed background checks and required online trainings prior to the start of the summer camp/academy

  • Provide customer service to parents/guardians of camp/academy participants

  • Triage situations that occur in a summer camp/academy such as injuries and illnesses that require notifying parents/guardians and making reports with SLU's Department of Public Safety

  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Qualifications

  • A demonstrated skill or capacity to coordinate and supervise multiple programs

  • Previous experience in working with K-12 students

  • Proven ability to balance the strategic needs of summer K-12 programming with day-to-day responsibilities

  • Demonstrated effective communication, both verbal and written

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate others

  • Experience working with participants of diverse backgrounds

  • Demonstrated customer service skills

  • Strong organization skills

Education and Years of Experience
Bachelor's degree; supplemented with one (1) year of related work experience
