SUMMARY:

The Geomatics Manager is responsible for Geomatics Operations of the Sanborn Mapping Business Unit. This includes geospatial analysis, development and implementation of solutions for production and QA/QC of the GIS, Lidar, Optical, and Survey functional department data and products. The position is responsible for developing technology, implementing technology, overseeing relevant production functions, developing solution plans and meeting the approved targets, developing and ensuring standards are met, delivering financial reports as required, and managing subordinate personnel in the division.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES



  1. Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the department.
  2. Responsible for the logistics, prioritization, development, coordination, and management of the business of the department in the areas of financial performance, hardware, software, staffing, training, development, processes, procedures, and systems analysis.
  3. Works with peers to coordinate resources, cross training, and quality.
  4. Responsible for the development of efficiency improvements, efficiency investments, and manages the department budget. Responsible for resources, cost models, and KPI reporting. Develops and maintains department schedules to meet required service levels and to meet all project schedule requirements.
  5. Leads the development, automation, and continuous improvement of processes and workflows; implements methods and algorithms for lidar, imagery, vector mapping, and GIS production pipelines and quality control.
  6. Analyze and identifies new technology to enhance production processes, lower costs, improve efficiency, and improve product delivery and interact with external companies and optical/mechanical/software engineers to refine Geomatics systems operation and technology.
  7. Conducts targeted functionality reviews of software, tools, services, and frameworks for the processing, analysis, and quality assurance of geospatial data providing technical reports for management.
  8. Troubleshooting complex system issues requiring in-depth cross-functional knowledge ranging from electronics to photonics to software.
  9. Defines requirements and goals for external suppliers and contractors.
  10. Maintains safe and clean work environment in educating and supervising staff in the Geomatics department production processes using company resources within the framework of established policies.
  11. Ensures proper usage with staff and overall administration of division production systems, software systems, equipment, and identifies enhancement opportunities.
  12. Oversees and manages the Geomatics department staff including recruiting, discipline, mentoring, training efforts and assisting with the performance and talent management process.
  13. Proactively delivers a high degree of professionalism and enthusiasm to effectively mentor, motivate, and supervise staff and to maintain good working relationships with outside vendors, and external clients as appropriate.
  14. Develop or revises standard operational and working practices and ensures department staff adhere to internal and external compliance and quality standards.
  15. Provides information, reporting, and recommended actions to management in resolving issues, identifying enhancement opportunities, cost control, recordkeeping, and staff performance needs.
  16. Maintains professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops, professional publications, networking, and professional affiliations.
  17. Oversee departmental human resource staff and coordinate with Human Resources for; resource planning needs, performance planning process, health and safety programs, training initiatives, performance warnings, worker grievances, and compliance with federal and state employment laws..
  18. Ensure timely and efficient collaboration and coordination between relevant departments including procurement, distribution, organization, communication, and management.
  19. Other Duties as assigned.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages department production staff to include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and supervising work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and escalating complaints to management.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Geography or related field. Equivalent experience may be substituted for the education requirement. Master's degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE

A minimum of seven years experience in geospatial and geomatics technologies. Knowledge of remote sensing technology, data and its uses, system techniques, including accuracy assessment and reporting. Familiarity of ASPRS, USGS, and FGDC metadata standards. Knowledge of production processes, modeling, and industry standards. Must have the ability to supervise a group of technical non-exempt and exempt employees, maintaining a high degree of motivation and focus on department goals. Must be detail oriented, with the ability to multi-task and maintain organization in a changing environment. Good interpersonal, oral and written communication leadership and motivational skills with a strong commitment to quality required.

Salary Range: 85k - 120k annually
