Patient Registration Lead-Riverside 3, 2nd floor

THIS POSITION IS LOCATED ON 2ND FLOOR OF RIVERSIDE 3. Neurology, OB/GYN, Rheumatology, and Endocrinology

The Patient Registration Lead assists in departmental operations, application of policy, regulations and standards related to the professional, efficient and effective delivery of services. Assists in the performance of registration functions and is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the work product. Responds to inquiries and assists the Management Team with investigation and resolution of concerns related to functions handled within the department. Provides quality customer service to team members, patients, physicians and others in all interactions, and other to facilitate the access process.

The primary responsibilities of the Lead include, but are not limited to the following:

• Promotes Carilion Clinic Service Standards and quality service through teamwork, respectful communication, maintenance of a professional environment, partnership with those we serve, and anticipation of patient/customer needs.
• Participates in team roles as defined by departmental operations and budget while overseeing details of maintaining an efficient and professional area, coordinating workflow, staff scheduling and clear task delegation.
• Maintains professional skills, including essential knowledge of a broad range of payer guidelines, policies and procedures, processes, effective communication techniques and technologies used in order to serve as a resource assuring self and team accuracy and timeliness of the work product.
• Responsible for oversight, compliance, and coordination of departmental processes related to work queues, system reports, cash boxes, co payment logs, shift reports, and staff scheduling.
• Assists with coordination and delivery of departmentaltraining and education. Demonstrates leadership, team building and employee development skills.
• Develops and maintains smooth cooperative working relationships with peers, subordinates and superiors showing awareness of, and consideration for, the opinions and feelings of others.
• Communicates clearly and directly with team members concerning expectations, productivity and accountability on a "real-time" basis.

M-F between 7a-5p; After 5p & weekends as needed

Education: High School diploma required.

Experience: Minimum of three (3) years prior experience in a physician office/medical office required. Previous registration and/or medical insurance experience required.

Licensure, certification, and/or registration: AHA BLS-HCP desirable.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Must be customer driven, have strong grammar, spelling and punctuation skills, knowledge of medical terminology, knowledge of office procedures and equipment, proficiency in computer data entry/keyboarding, and good organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to use electronic medical records. Ability to multi-task essential.
