As required by our governmental client, this position requires being a US Citizen AND an active Public Trust clearance. The Senior Computer Scientist leads and conducts customer-driven, aviation-specific human factors research in compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements. This role involves independently managing research projects and timelines, performing high-level statistical analyses, visualizing and interpreting results, and summarizing and presenting findings. Strong statistical background, technical writing, verbal communication, and project management skills are essential. Candidates must demonstrate success in fast-paced, team environments and provide evidence of relevant research experience. Compensation & Benefits: Estimated Starting Salary Range for Computer Scientist - Senior: $86,000 to $95,000 Pay commensurate with experience. Computer Scientist - Senior Responsibilities Include:
- Work effectively and autonomously on complex, time-sensitive projects/tasks without technical direction
- Lead multiple research tasks and task teams to:
- Assist customer with developing research protocols and IRB documentation
- Assist customer with experimental design, implementing experimental procedures, and identifying concerns to mitigate challenges
- Structure and maintain complex research databases, and verify accuracy and validity of data
- Identify suitable statistical analyses based on research goals and available data
- Manipulate and analyze data, as well as perform and interpret high-level statistical analyses
- Complete all aspects of literature reviews: define appropriate search strategies, compile pertinent information and findings, and provide guidance for developing relevant research strategies
- Develop summary reports/presentations and present work to research sponsors, peer groups, and industry partners at conferences, as required
- Contribute to project-related technical reports, manuscripts, and conference papers
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Computer Scientist - Senior Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
- PhD level degree in related field PLUS Minimum 10 years related work experience required. Related 5 years directly applicable work experience may be interchangeable with related field PhD program education. Related fields include but are not limited to: Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Engineering Psychology, Applied Psychology, Industrial Engineering, Cognitive Psychology, Data Science and Analytics, or similar.
- Expertise in R, RStudio statistical analyses package
- Expertise in Statistics for the Social Sciences (SPSS) package
- Experience with MATLAB, Python, or similar programming package(s)
- Ability to scope, organize, and manage complex research project requirements
- Ability to lead teams to conduct and summarize high-level statistical analyses
- Ability to select and perform appropriate high-level statistical analyses for research data
- Ability to interpret, visualize, and summarize results of statistical analyses
- Ability to perform literature reviews and write annotated bibliographies/results reports
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written, and oral presentation)
- Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal and federal government public trust background check
- Must be a US citizen or hold a Green card
