We are seeking a Flight Safety System Engineer to join our team with Astrion, a key partner in NASA's engineering solutions. This role supports NASA's Electrical Power Distribution and Control (EPDC) efforts, ensuring the safety and reliability of human spaceflight systems aboard the International Space Station (ISS) and beyond.

What You'll Do:

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Electrical Power Distribution and Control, collaborating with NASA's Johnson Space Center (JSC) Engineering Directorate.
  • Support key safety review panels, including Payload Safety Review Panels (PSRP), ISS and Visiting Vehicle Safety Panels, and Vehicle Configuration Meetings.
  • Assess Safety Data Packages (SDPs), Hazard Reports (HRs), and Non-Compliance Reports (NCRs) for compliance with human spaceflight safety standards.
  • Provide expert consultation on design safety and hazard assessment for ISS payloads, systems, and government-furnished equipment.
  • Participate in technical meetings, including PSRP, SRP, and Technical Interchange Meetings, offering critical feedback to enhance flight safety.

What You Bring to the Team:

This position is available at multiple levels based on experience and qualifications.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronic, or similar).
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience in engineering, flight safety, or related fields.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present to large engineering teams and translate complex technical data into clear, actionable insights.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (MS or Ph.D.) in Engineering.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in flight safety, electrical systems, or aerospace engineering.
  • Knowledge of International Space Station (ISS) safety standards, including SSP 30309 and SSP 30599.
