NORTH AMERICA INDIRECT PURCHASING MANAGER
IMPACT and OPPORTUNITY Leading by example, this role is responsible for building and developing a team to source, qualify and procure indirect materials, supplies, machinery, tooling and/or services. Purchasing Manager, Indirect Goods & Services, North America is responsible for actively participating in development of commodity strategies, sourcing/negotiations, global/regional material budget execution, and interface with suppliers and internal stakeholders. Work is of a complex nature involving a considerable amount of initiative, analytical work, and a high level of independent judgment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Effectively lead, cross functionally, both internally and externally and build relationships to source, qualify, and maintain consistent, high-quality commodities at low total cost of ownership (TCO)
- Build, develop and mentor a team.
- Act as an escalation point within the indirect purchasing team for dispute resolution.
- Maintains and ensures compliance of purchasing policies and practices to control procurement function.
- Participates and adheres to Gentherm's key principle of inclusivity.
- Leads, directs and manages commercial negotiations involving the assigned categories and/or services
- Plans and directs activities within assigned categories to achieve the maximum measurable results
- Develop and lead strategic sourcing activities for assigned indirect categories *
- Effectively achieve optimal total cost of ownership and manage supplier risk, while meeting business stakeholders' requirements
- Delivers excellence in procurement activities including spend analytics, strategy development, negotiations, and stakeholder engagement
- Plan and deliver desired business results (including savings for annual and multi-year savings goals) and category strategies for assigned categories
- Initiate and lead RFP/RFQ bids and analysis, supplier evaluation, supplier qualification, supplier selection, contract development/execution and negotiations
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven track record of supplier evaluation, negotiation and selection.
- Experience in contract management and execution.
- Proven track record of managing CapEx, IT and Engineering Services projects
- Ability to identify business opportunities and make business proposals.
- Energetic, committed and dedicated to achieving success.
- Able to resolve problems, transition and transform sourcing activities.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
- Strong Analytical skills.
- Bachelor's Degree required; procurement related degree preferred.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with Indirect Category Management strategy
- 5 year's minimum experience in strategic sourcing.
- Experience in supplier development and supplier performance.
- Strong skills in spend and performance analysis.
- Good understanding of best-in-class sourcing management processes and techniques.
- Fluency in Spanish is highly desirable.
