Department Summary

This position is currently housed within UNT System Business Services; however, it is scheduled to transition to UNT System Compliance during calendar year 2025.

Position Overview

This position leads complex policy and regulation development for the UNT System in collaboration with System departments and member institutions. Under the direction of senior leadership, it helps set strategic priorities for the policy program, ensuring policies remain current and effective. Responsibilities include researching, drafting, editing, coordinating, and evaluating policies, as well as managing the tools and processes used to track approvals, implement changes, and communicate updates.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and four years' of related experience or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.

Preferred Qualifications

* Master's Degree
* Experience or education that includes exposure to legal or regulatory environments
* Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in which policy development and/or management in the public sector - preferably within higher education - was a primary responsibility.

  • % - Serves as the primary point of contact for the development, revision, and interpretation of UNT System policies and regulations. - (Essential)
  • % - Partners with subject matter experts, administrators, General Counsel, and other stakeholders to ensure all policies and regulations meet System standards, maintain consistency in format and language, and do not conflict with or duplicate existing policies. - (Essential)
  • % - Collaborates with leadership and policy administrators across other UNT System institutions to support system-wide alignment, reduce policy redundancy, and resolve potential conflicts - (Essential)
  • % - Coordinates and manages the cyclical review of Regents Rules, System Regulations, and System Policies to ensure accuracy, relevance, and alignment with the System's strategic goals and legal requirements. - (Essential)
  • % - Establishes and monitors timelines, milestones, and deadlines for the drafting, review, approval, and implementation of policies and regulations. - (Essential)
  • % - Provides status updates, reporting, and documentation to executive leadership, stakeholders, and other interested parties to ensure transparency throughout the policy process. - (Essential)
  • % - Designs and delivers training sessions and resources for policy stakeholders on policy development processes, writing standards, and compliance best practices. - (Essential)
  • % - Administers and maintains the policy website and centralized policy management platform to ensure accessibility and version control. - (Essential)
  • % - Maintains an organized historical archive of current and retired Regents Rules, System Regulations, and System Policies to support institutional memory and audit readiness. - (Essential)
  • % - Develops communication strategies and materials to support the rollout and awareness of new or revised policies across the System. - (Essential)
  • % - Supports compliance and audit readiness by coordinating documentation and tracking of policy exceptions, interpretations, and approvals. - (Essential)
  • % - Assists in ensuring alignment of campus-level policies with System-wide policies and serves as a resource for policy interpretation. - (Essential)
  • % - May be responsible for completing required state forms, applications, and regulatory reporting, as needed. - (Essential)


Work Schedule:

Remote with occasional onsite requirement. Standard working hours M-F, 8am-5pm; overtime as needed
