Position summary:

The Gas Scheduler Analyst Senior provides transactional analysis and scheduling, working with the Manager of Gas Supply Transportation Services to optimize and accurately provide activities on pipelines in support of the organization. Understands the movement of natural gas, knowledge of electronic bulletin boards, and internal tracking systems, and is capable of tracking transactions from inception to month end. Additional responsibilities include but may not be limited to shipper imbalance management; ensuring Shipper compliance with all Company tariffs; monitoring of pipeline operating conditions; communication with gas control, measurement, field operations personnel, engineering, and any other department within the Company as needed; maintaining transportation contract data in transactional scheduling/billing system; responding to customer inquiries; testing system upgrades; troubleshooting customer issues; managing customer access to system; cross-functional training.

Pay Range: $84,600 - $126,900 (This posting includes the full pay range for this position. Pay is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.)

Reporting Relationship: Manager/Supervisor of Gas Transportation Services

Essential Functions:

  • Works closely with the Manager/Supervisor of Gas Transportation Services to ensure all pipeline scheduling is performed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Communicates with our suppliers and markets to ensure that contractual nomination data is coordinated properly and resolves all discrepancies in a timely fashion.
  • Schedules gas on inter/intrastate pipeline EBB systems.
  • Works with suppliers, purchasers, pipelines and point operators to monitor and minimize imbalances. When imbalances occur, works within pipeline and LDC guidelines to reduce, eliminate, or trade those imbalances in the manor most advantageous to the company.
  • Performs end of month closing tasks including actualization of pipes/trades. Interacts closely with internal accounting and third parties to help resolve any discrepancies that arise in monthly settlement.
  • Monitor pipeline bulletin boards (EBBs) for both critical and non-critical notices and relays these to the team.
  • Work closely with Gas Margin Accounting and Regulatory personnel to satisfy state regulatory filing requirements.
  • Develop and maintain expertise with LDC/pipeline tariffs. Monitor filed tariff changes and communicates potential impacts to appropriate parties. Provide timely updates regarding pipeline maintenance and outages and the potential impacts.
  • Participates in and contributes to the scoping, testing, and implementing of current and new software enhancements and transportation services.
  • Performs end of month closing tasks including actualization of pipes/trades. Interacts closely with internal accounting and third parties to help resolve any discrepancies that arise in monthly settlement.
  • Analyzes software anomalies and attempts to resolve before engaging Business Liaison.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Regularly use spreadsheets, database, and word processing software, and periodically learn new programs.
  • Must be able to work non-traditional hours (including some weekends/holidays) as needed.
  • May be required to carry a company provided cell phone and be available to respond during working hours. May also be required to respond during non-working hours, especially related to company emergencies.

What Is Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of coordinating/scheduling materials movement or natural gas industry experience.

What Is Desired:

  • Knowledge of natural gas scheduling and the utility industry.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.
  • Detail oriented with excellent planning, organization, problem solving, and analytical skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional team player with a positive attitude.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to build relationships and work with a wide variety of people and functions, both internally and externally.
  • Excellent communication skills, both personal and electronic; must maintain a high level of professionalism; must possess a very high level of verbal skills and be able to listen carefully.
  • Deals with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy, and professionalism.
  • Solid understanding of all company transportation and storage contracts and rights.
  • Working knowledge of and adherence to the corporate Risk Policy.
