Setup Techs are tasked with start to finish setup of mill, lathe and CNC machines to produce high-quality valve and regulator parts. These individuals read blueprints, start and operate manual and CNC machines, perform quality checks with various gaging equipment, and perform minor preventative machine maintenance. We are looking for individuals who have knowledge or experience in machine operations, a keen eye for quality control and safety, the ability to solve problems and perform basic mathematics, and the desire to develop and expand their skills in a production-driven environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Sets up manual/CNC and mill/lathe machines to produce metal valve and regulator parts.
• Starts machines, positions and secures workpiece, and engages bar feeding, cooling, and lubricating mechanisms.
• Reads blueprints and understands symbols for concentricity, runout, surface finish, machined/non-machined surfaces, seat areas, and dimensions.
• Detects product defects, contains defects, and resolves issues.
• Works through machine malfunctions, performs basic troubleshooting and makes minor adjustments as necessary.
• Replaces dull or worn tooling in machines using hand tools.
• Removes burrs, sharp edges, and tool marks from products using files, hand grinders, wire brushes, and power tools.
• Performs quality checks by collecting measurements and dimensions using calipers, go/no go gages, micrometers, height gages, thread gages, concentricity gages and other measuring tools.
• Enters quality control data using Statistical Process Control System.
• Performs minor preventative maintenance, such as oiling or cleaning machines, dies, or workpieces, or adding coolant to machine reservoirs.
• Actively participates in the ECI 6S program centered around work area safety (organization, standardization, and cleanliness) throughout the shift.
• Actively participates in Kaizen events, a program focused on the continuous improvement of safety practices related to individuals and processes within the manufacturing warehouse.

EDUCATION AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Required:

• Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, and basic shop mathematics, including measuring and effectively using calipers and other measuring tools.
• Skill in reading and understanding mechanical blueprints.
• Ability to perform work in a safe manner.

• Ability to learn new machines and production procedures.
• Must be a team player and willing to adapt to an ever-changing work environment and engage in continuous personal development.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)

• Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of the equipment being installed (including components, functions, and specifications). Understanding of relevant technical standards and procedures. Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, and manuals
• Problem-solving Skills: Identifying and diagnosing issues during setup. Analyzing problems logically and developing effective solution. Troubleshooting technical difficulties independently
• Attention to Detail: Precisely following installation instructions and ensuring accuracy. Detecting minor discrepancies or potential issues during setup. Maintaining cleanliness and organization of work area
• Communication Skills: Clearly explaining technical concepts to non-technical users. Collaborating effectively with colleagues and clients. Reporting any issues or concerns promptly
• Physical Dexterity: Ability to lift and maneuver heavy equipment safely. Precise hand-eye coordination for connecting cables and components. Working in confined spaces if necessary
• Time Management: Efficiently managing installation timelines and meeting deadlines. Prioritizing tasks to optimize workflow
• Adaptability: Adjusting to changing work environments and unexpected situations. Learning new equipment and procedures quickly
• Safety Awareness: Following safety protocols related to electricity, lifting, and handling equipment. Recognizing potential hazards and taking appropriate precautions
