Acara Solutions is looking for a Signaling Test & Commissioning Engineer to work out in Los Angeles for our partner who specializes in transportation Manufacturing
Here is what you will get:
Pay Rate: $95,000 to $110,000/yr DOE
Duration: Temporary to hire position
OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
  • As part of its awarded contract for the Automated People Mover System for the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), our partner has in its scope the design, supply and commissioning of the automated vehicles, CBTC signaling and communication systems.
  • The role of the Installation, Test & Commissioning COM Engineer is to participate in the execution of the on-site T&C activities for the Communication systems which comprises of the Trackside and On-board Radio systems (TETRA, Wi-Fi), Backbone data network, Video Surveillance System (VSS), Audio/Video Recorders, Passenger Announcements and Information Systems (PAPIS), Cybersecurity and SCADA.
  • In addition for these activities, he/she will execute installation suppervision and support to the EI (Electrical Installer), Field Modifications (FMI) and PICO (Post Installation Check-outs).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Participate in the writing of the T&C and adequate operating procedures for the allocated sub-system based on defined design specifications and the on-site constraints,
  • Perform testing and reporting activities consciously with safety, quality, and in a proper manner according to the Testing and Commissioning process and documentation,
  • Participate to the integration tests between COM Systems and the other systems off-site (when required) and on-site with the involved stakeholders (SIG, Vehicle, Network, Intrusion Detection, Equipment Control and Monitoring ...), including the execution of the System Acceptance and Integration Testing programs,
  • Perform and provide preliminary investigations report on faults identified during the site testing. Perform LOG analysis and record NCR at specific database.
  • Lead the consolidation of the test records to prepare the official test report,
  • Provide support to the COM T&C Leader for the daily tasks (tools, track issues, progress report...),
  • Work closely with the off-shore experts to conduct troubleshooting of systems and equipment in order to identify the root cause and integration issues,
  • Identify and propose containment and sustainable solutions with the support of the product team,
  • Ensure the application of all EHS Golden rules (AZDP) during T&C activities.
Job Requirements
Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • EDUCATION
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network, Radio, Industrial systems Engineering or related field. 4 additional years of experience may substitute for the degree if necessary
  • TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum 4 years testing and commissioning experience
  • Multidisciplinary and polyvalent (especially in Computer and electrical),
  • Ability to read and understand electrical cabling drawings and diagrams,
  • Familiar with LANs, WANs, network routers, firewall and TCP-IP technologies
  • Knowledge in industrial communication protocols,
  • Experience with configuring and troubleshooting wired and wireless network equipment,
  • Experience with common network troubleshooting tools (like Wireshark),
  • Experience with SCADA systems and components (servers, RTU, PLC),
  • Knowledge in Cybersecurity.
