Manufacturing Engineer
Position Overview

At Aurora Flight Sciences, we design, build, and fly advanced aircraft and enabling technologies from concept to reality. We are searching for a talented and self-motivated Manufacturing Engineer to help us create the future of flight. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

Responsibilities

- Service the development, production and delivery of aerostructure components and assemblies.
- Create and maintain Engineering masters and operations work orders through an electronic ERP System (SAP).
- Main interface with internal or external design engineering services. -
- Prevent process bottlenecks and improve processes for manufacturing engineering activities.
- Follow established company procedures and project execution processes.
- Performs to individual and company objectives and metrics. Incorporates lean manufacturing principles and participates in process improvement initiatives.
- Create part inspection check lists, first article inspections, manufacturing planning documents, inspection sheets, request for change inquiries, purchase proposals, inspect drawings, prepare bid packages for the suppliers/vendors, prepare basis of estimates and quotes in support of business proposals, provide support to the production floor with drawing and technical specifications interpretations.

Minimum Requirements

- Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and
experience (e.g. Master).
- Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint Experience with assembly sequencing, and producibility utilizing CAD software
- Must be a US Person.

Preferred Requirements

- Two (2) or more years of experience within composite or metal aerostructure manufacturing and assembly.
- Experience with SolidWorks or Catia5.
- Experience utilizing ERP/MRP planning systems and bill of material interrogation for process planning.
- Understanding the financial and scheduling metrics in successfully executing a program.
- Experience with supporting fabrication of avionics harnessing.
- Experience with fabrication of various metals and/or composites.
- Team Collaboration: Actively contributes to a positive team environment.
- Interpersonal Skills: Effectively manages conflict with a focus on resolution and maintains confidentiality.
- Judgment & Planning: Demonstrates strong planning and organizational skills. Sets clear goals and objectives and develops actionable, prioritized plans to meet them.
- Professionalism: Maintains professionalism and composure under pressure. Consistently treats others with respect and consideration, regardless of role or status.
- Dependability: Follows through on commitments. Completes tasks in a timely manner or proactively communicates changes and alternative plans.
- Communication: Communicates respectfully, clearly and effectively in writing. Able to present technical and numerical data in a clear, informative format.
- Process Development: Capable of translating product designs into effective manufacturing processes. Ensures adherence to production standards and quality control requirements.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and wear proper PPE.
- Follow Boeing regulations for lifting.
- Work onsite in Manassas, VA.

Salary Range (Annualized USD)

  • Minimum Range: $67,000.00 to $119,000.00
  • Maximum Range: $80,000.00 to $142,000.00
