The Position

Hillsboro Technical Operations (HTO) is a drug product & finished goods manufacturing organization responsible for the reliable delivery of Roche's commercial portfolio & pipeline products. The Operations organization at HTO is divided into two manufacturing units, which combine to produce millions of units of life-saving medicine every year to patients around the world.

The Opportunity:

As a member of the Site Leadership Team, the Head of Finished Goods is responsible for overseeing the full scope of Finished Goods Operations by ensuring organizational effectiveness and efficiency, as well as future readiness. The focus includes Visual Inspection, Packaging, all peripheral GMP processes and Operational Excellence of Finished Goods Manufacturing.

As the owner of all Finished Goods systems and assets, the Head of Finished Goods is accountable for the safe, accurate & efficient preparation, maintenance, calibration, functionality and reliability of all respective manufacturing areas, equipment, systems, and processes.

Additionally, this leader serves as a key contributor for all network activities such as introduction of new technology and products in Inspection and Packaging. This role is a key contributor to ensuring future readiness and technological transformation. This includes strategic long range planning, operational planning, manufacture, access and release of commercial and potentially clinical products.

This person must be able to build and effectively execute the agenda for Inspection and Packaging operations to ensure reliable delivery for commercial products and new tech transfers. They must build and maintain strong partnerships with other Manufacturing units, Quality, MSAT, Facility, Engineering & SHE, ITOT, Material Management, People & Culture, Finance, Global Operations and other functional areas to assure site and department goals are achieved. They will also assure that all reporting departments maintain the highest level of GMP compliance, inspection readiness and adherence to Genentech safety policies.

This position is also accountable to drive Operational Excellence with a focus on business process & data analysis, strategic deployment of the Lean Production System, and the optimization of production processes to deliver exceptional performance.

  • You will be accountable for all KPIs (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Engagement, and Cost) and outcomes of the Finished Goods operations;

  • You will build and lead a visionary outlook for the site in context of the strategic network needs; collaborating with stakeholders and other functions on site and in the Roche PT network

  • You will create an environment conducive to robust manufacturing execution and continuous improvement;

  • You will collaborate with peers to balance requirements across own and other functions, removes barriers to execution within and across functions;

  • You will ensure Supply Chain resilience and agility for fast time-to-launch;

  • You will manage the discretionary functional budget;

  • You will lead a multi-disciplinary cross-functional team with a wide range of expertise (including but not limited to Operators, Mechanics, Quality functional experts) and multiple hierarchical levels to ensure 'right- first-time' and a short order lead-time by implementing a customer-oriented lean end-to-end mindset;

  • You will lead cross-functional teams, in accordance with the Roche People Practices;

  • You will collaborate with the PT network and site partners to ensure overall PTM finished goods and inspection strategy and commitments are met.

Who you are:

  • You hold a BS/BA degree in life sciences, physical sciences, engineering with 20+ years of significant bio/pharmaceutical experience, including cross functional group management and proven end to end Pharma business execution experience.

  • You have a proven ability to influence up (including global executives), down and sideways to effectively attract, develop and implement new business opportunities

  • You have a fundamental, working knowledge of safety, quality systems, and quality assurance concepts is required including the application of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs)

  • You have strong creative leadership skills according to the Visionary, Architect, Coach, Catalyst (VACC) model and proven ability to build visionary outlook; remove barriers within and across VSs; develop people and technical capabilities; create an environment which enables people to perform at their best

  • You have a proven ability to implement and coach Lean way of working

  • You have a demonstrated capability to prioritize PTM network, site and function and proven ability to collaborate across and within the PT and PTM network to achieve required levels of production performance

  • You have excellent communication skills, at both a global and local level, to include presenting to regulatory authorities as needed

  • You have a demonstrated ability to create a bold shared vision and higher purpose for the function, linked to the site and network vision and to create an environment where people are encouraged to collaborate with one another in service to the shared vision

  • You have a demonstrated ability to create clarity and focus and remove barriers to achieve shared vision

  • You have an ability to challenge the principles and assumptions without micromanaging. Listen actively and provide a safe environment where different and alternative ideas can be expressed

Preferred:

  • You hold post Graduate-level course work, including management training (e.g., an MBA)

  • You have international experience at multiple sites/locations

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location for this position of Hillsboro, OR is $188,000 - $350,000 . Actual pay will be determined based on experience, level, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. Relocation benefits are provided.
