Pay Rate: $21.50

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

A handyman is responsible for performing a variety of preventive maintenance and repair tasks. The individual is expected to have a wide range of skills, from basic plumbing and electrical work to carpentry, drywall repairs, and general building improvement. The handyman is expected to complete jobs to high standards, ensuring safety and customer satisfaction.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION:

* General Maintenance & Repairs: Perform routine maintenance and repairs such as fixing leaky faucets, repairing broken doors, installing shelves, fixing windows, painting, drywall patching, and replacing light fixtures.
* Plumbing: Install and repair pipes, water lines, faucets, and drains. Perform basic plumbing tasks, including unclogging drains, installing water heaters, and replacing fixtures.
* Electrical Work: Install and repair electrical fixtures, outlets, and switches. Replace light bulbs, wiring, or damaged electrical components as needed. (Note: Tasks may be limited based on certification or local regulations.)
* Carpentry and Woodworking: Build and repair furniture, install cabinets, hang doors, and frame walls or partitions. Assemble and install shelving, trim, and moldings.
* Improvement Projects: Handle various building improvement tasks, including flooring installation (tile, laminate, or hardwood), deck repairs, drywall installation, and exterior maintenance like gutter cleaning and power washing.
* Inspection and Troubleshooting: Identify issues such as leaks, worn-out components, electrical faults, or structural damage. Provide solutions and recommend upgrades or replacement of equipment if necessary.
* Safety Compliance: Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and local building codes. Use tools and equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and safety procedures.
* Customer Service: Provide high-quality customer service, which includes answering questions, providing cost estimates, and making recommendations for repairs or improvements.
* Record Keeping and Reporting: Keep track of work orders, supplies used, and time spent on each task. Report job completion to manager.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:

* Experience: At least 2-3 years of experience in general maintenance, building repairs, or a related field. Proficiency in at least one of the following areas: plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, or home improvement.
* Skills:
o Proficient in using hand and power tools
o Knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting techniques
o Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
o Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently
o Good communication and customer service skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, bend, stoop, kneel and sit; use hand handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk or hear in loud environment. The employee must occasionally lift (including overhead) and/or up to 50 lbs.

WORK HOUR & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

* Ability to travel and/or relocate to other facilities and offices.
* Ability to come in for emergency repairs after scheduled work hours.

* Ability to work weekends and holidays as required.
* Ability to work evenings as required.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

* Required
o High School diploma or GED.
* Preferred
o Mechanical certification(s)

PAY RATE:

$21.50
