Description Under the supervision of the Sr. Genetic Counselor and IPH Project Manager, the Genetic Counseling Assistant (GCA) plays a key role in supporting the ATLAS Genetic Screening Program (GSP), which is a large-scale, system-wide initiative at UCLA Health focused on identifying and returning medically actionable genetic findings to patients. The GCA is instrumental in coordinating the logistics of the ATLAS GSP, including patient outreach, data entry, follow-up, and workflow optimization. In addition, the GCA may support other genetics clinics as needed, contributing to a collaborative team environment, and helping to streamline clinical operations while ensuring a patient-centered experience.

Salary Range: $29.42 - $42.14 Hourly
Qualifications Required:
  • Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication (both verbal and written) skills
  • Ability to analyze information and situations, prioritize tasks, develop solutions and make recommendations
  • Ability to use good judgment and work independently, with little supervision, and in a team setting
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships across the healthcare system
  • Ability to adapt to an ever-changing, fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position
  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance and demeaner in interactions with patients, UCLA Health faculty and employees, and outside laboratories/healthcare teams
  • Required to comply with UCLA Health Standards and is sensitive to the needs of patients, staff, and providers at all times.
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in biological/health sciences
  • Experience with EPIC electronic medical record application, File Maker Pro
  • Leadership/management experience
  • Spanish speaking
