About the role

Manages legal claims filed in administrative agencies, sends and responds to various demand letters asserting legal claims on behalf of or against our companies, and provides litigation support and other support as needed to in-house counsel.

What you'll be doing
  • Collaborates with business partners to gather, analyze, and produce information related to discovery requests, investigations, and internal initiatives.
  • Manages an entire case load independently with general supervision consisting of restrictive covenant claims, wage and hour claims, and OSHA complaints throughout the country, including all claims brought before administrative agencies.
  • Attends and represents the defendant employer in administrative hearings and uses discretion and judgment when settling matters under general supervision of counsel.
  • Uses discretion to identify relevant documents to request and review and drafts legal letters to third parties, including state agencies.
  • Uses discretion to develop objections to requests for information.
  • Uses judgment to identify cases for settlement and negotiates claims to resolution.
  • Assists counsels by gathering, researching and investigating information and data related to legal precedent, regulations, statutes, decisions, and facts and laws.
  • Compiles and analyzes information and data related to internal metrics and reporting and presents to legal team and HR.
  • Generates, reviews, analyzes, organizes, indexes and tracks documents and files.
  • Manages the U.S. Legal Inbox.
  • Administers case management software, including case intake, status changes, assignments and closures.
  • Acts as a liaison with internal business partners and stakeholders.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of related legal procedures and best practices.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
About you

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's Degree and paralegal certification by an institution approved by the American Bar Association. A minimum of seven (7) years of litigation paralegal experience in a law firm and/or supporting a corporate legal function; or equivalent combination of post high school education and experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:

  • Skilled in communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Skilled in preparing clear, concise, persuasive, and accurate documents including, but not limited to reports, contracts, procedures, and correspondence.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously while meeting assigned deadlines.
  • Ability to identify problems, review related information and evaluate, develop and recommend solutions.
  • Knowledge of related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations as it pertains to legal claims.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
