The Sherwin-Williams Finance internship is designed to provide you with hands-on experience in SBS General Accounting

The internship features a singular SBS General Accounting experience, where you'll learn a wide range of responsibilities throughout the SBS General Accounting department. The tasks assigned to this role grant a wide range of experience that includes bank account reconciliation, profit and loss statement analysis, management reporting, and journal voucher creating and uploading.

You will gain meaningful exposure to bank account reconciliation, profit and loss statement analysis, management reporting, and journal voucher creating and uploading. As well as additional processes and technology that drive financial results for the business, all while developing the skills necessary for a successful finance or accounting career.

This internship program is scheduled to begin Summer 2025 and designed to be ongoing until the individual has graduated college.

This role's schedule is typically between 15-28 hours per week during the school year, and 37.5 hours per week during the summer (M-F 8:30AM-5PM)

Day to Day Responsibilities:

Because this role involves access to confidential financial information, the Company has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and to provide similar protections for its clients and potential investments.



  • Assist with daily balancing of credit card transactions in US & Canada Stores and associated files received from banking institutions and assist with daily rejects reports
  • Compile customer complaint accrual lag analysis
  • Gather Account Receivable transactions on a weekly basis to reclass to proper GL account string
  • Work with group Financial Analysts to ensure timely uploads of submitted journal vouchers throughout the month and during month end close
  • Assist in researching customer deposits (debit balances and other)
  • Provide timely responses to chargeback inquiries from field personnel
  • Act as a resource to HQ and field personnel regarding all financial related matters; achieve resolution in a timely manner and assist with various ad hoc projects



Leadership Development:



  • Training additional co-ops that come into SBS Accounting
  • Presentation of school projects that relate to Accounting



Professional Networking:



  • Partnering with other co-ops and/or team members on specific responsibilities and/or projects
  • Collaborating with both finance and non-financial teams across the organization

Minimum Requirements



  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future.
  • Must be enrolled in a college or university, pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, or Businessat the time of the internship
  • Willingness to work all scheduled hours, including overtime as needed, with or without reasonable accommodation



Preferred Qualifications



  • Be a rising or current Junior or Senior in college or university at the start of the internship program
  • Have prior school or work experience in finance, accounting, and business
  • Have at least one (1) year of experience using Microsoft Office products (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams, and/or Outlook)
  • Have previous experience working in a team-oriented setting including work experience, extracurricular activities, military service, etc.
  • Previous experience in the Sherwin-Williams Corporate Finance Internship Program
