Job Summary: The Manager-Environmental Services is responsible for the consistent achievement of the mission, vision, and objectives of the Environmental Service departments by managing all aspects of the Environmental Services for the Medical Center and its off-site locations. Sets strategic initiatives for departments to align with the entities strategic plan. Ensures quality of service and compliance with regulatory agencies. Leads under a servant-leadership model to create an environment of personal ownership among the staff. Maintains a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the field and fosters continuous learning and improvement within the staff and is responsible for increasing employee engagement. Manages the daily operations of the Environmental Services departments for all shifts. Provides supervision, training, and support with the coordination of activities of Environmental Services Supervisors and front line employees. Sets and maintains schedules. Establishes and reviews operating standards and procedures. Supervises the compilation and maintenance of department operations and inventory records. These services may be provided for both the LLUMC and LLUCH hospitals. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field required. Minimum four years experience in Environmental Services or related field will be considered in lieu of education. Minimum five years of increasingly responsible supervisory experience including three years of management and administrative responsibility required.
Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of proper use of EVS equipment required. Demonstrates knowledge of all aspects of the EVS department. Knowledge of JCAHO, CMS, OSHA and other regulatory agencies. Able to read; write and speak with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Access; operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; provide leadership; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently; perform basic math and statistical functions; manage multiple assignments; compose written material; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
Licensures and Certifications: Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) and Emergency Response certification preferred. Certified Health Care Environmental Services Technician (CHEST) certification preferred.
