Job Description:

The Data Architect will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and refining our data warehouse framework to support our organization's strategic objectives. This includes design of enterprise-level data warehouse solutions with conventional database warehouse technologies and maintain the corporate data warehouse environment, within on-premises and cloud environment. This involves close collaboration with leaders and technologists, driving architectural decisions, data governance and successful implementation of scalable data systems. The Data Architect will also play a critical role in operational support across the entire data environment including managing data integrity, optimizing performance, and scaling solutions to meet evolving business needs. A remote work arrangement is available for this position.

  • Design and develop scalable, efficient, and secure data architectures leveraging SQL Server, Azure services, and data fabrics.
  • Implement robust data models, including multidimension modeling, to support complex business requirements and ensure data accuracy and consistency.
  • Leverage Azure services such as Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, Azure Synapse Analytics, and others to architect cloud-native data solutions.
  • Design and implement Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes using SSIS and other relevant technologies to integrate data from various sources into the data architecture.
  • Provide technical and operational oversight on database administration across the entire database environment including architecture, configuration, monitoring, maintenance, tuning and security
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, data engineers, data analysts, and business stakeholders to understand requirements, define data architecture solutions, and drive successful implementations.
  • Document data architecture designs, standards, and best practices, and provide guidance and support to ensure adherence across projects.
  • Maintain security compliance and adherence to ISO270001 certifications
  • Populate and maintain a knowledge base (Application Portfolio) including installation documentation, problem resolutions, vendor contact information, change log, and other application information.
  • Maintain technical proficiency and industry knowledge through participating in technical and business-related training programs, seminars and industry events
  • Contribute to team efforts by participating in regularly scheduled team / project meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:
  • Minimum of 7 years of Information Technology experience with at least 4 years of experience as a Data Architect or similar role.
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university
  • AI and Machine Learning Integration: Experience in integrating AI and machine learning models into data architecture. This includes building and testing sustainable data infrastructure to facilitate data search and retrieval.
  • Big Data Solutions: Proficiency in designing and implementing big data solutions
  • Data Governance and Quality: Advanced skills in data governance and quality management, especially in multi-cloud environments.
  • Modern Data Platforms: Knowledge of modern data platforms, mesh and lakehouse architecture and data fabrics
  • AI-Driven Software Development: Understanding of AI-driven software development, including the use of large language models and image generation technologies including vector databases.
  • Demonstrated experience in data warehousing principles, approaches, technologies, and architectures.
  • Extensive knowledge of complex SQL development and troubleshooting (tables, views, stored procedures, functions, indexes, scripts, etc.)
  • Expertise in ETL development using SSIS, and Azure Data Factory or similar tools.
  • Experience with a reporting tool, preferably Reporting Services (SSRS, PowerBI), Qlik
  • Knowledge of SQL Server 2016, 2019, 2022 environment
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Flexibility in work schedules (after hours support) required
  • Strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate on all levels
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly within a business environment

In accordance with applicable Federal and State laws, the anticipated annual salary range for this position, depending on location, is as follows:

  • Rochester, NY: $93,000 to $138,050
  • Boston, MA: $102,500 to $152,350
  • Chicago, IL: $102,500 to $152,350
  • Los Angeles, CA: $102,500 to $152,350
  • Washington, DC: $102,500 to $152,350
  • New York, NY: $112,500 to $167,200
  • San Francisco, CA: $112,500 to $167,200

In addition to a standard benefits package, this role may be eligible for additional contingent compensation based on an array of factors, including but not limited to: work performance, geographic location, work experience, education, and qualifications. Because such contingent compensation is not yet calculable or may be zero ($0) in some circumstances, the above-listed salary range(s) are Nixon Peabody's good faith estimate of the annual salary(ies) it reasonably expects to pay for the position at the time of this posting.
