Job Description

Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Group Lead, Clinical Information Processor

Take the next step in your Health Information Management career as a Group Lead, Clinical Information Processor! You will support daily operations, train new team members, and ensure regulatory compliance across multiple touchpoints. This leadership role will put your problem-solving skills, legal understanding, and operational oversight to work in a fast-paced, high-impact healthcare environment!

Role Overview

    Support the Manager in overseeing daily operations, assigning work, and implementing process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with Cures Act, HIPAA, CMS, NYS regulations, and internal MSKCC policies.
  • Coordinate and monitor the timely processing of medical record requests, including court-ordered subpoenas and legal audits.
  • Act as point-of-contact for complex patient, attorney, and staff inquiries regarding release of information and authorization requirements.
  • Lead new employee training on OnBase, Epic, and ROI processes, ensuring readiness and compliance.
  • Audit and process documentation for reimbursement purposes in Patient Accounts and Physician Billing.
  • Address equipment and system issues by collaborating with IS and external vendors, including temporary workarounds.
  • Represent the unit during the Manager's absence, including project oversight and cross-team coordination.

Key Qualifications

  • Knowledge of HIPAA, NYS medical release laws, and regulatory standards.
  • Experience handling subpoenas, legal audits, and requests from departments like Legal Affairs and Patient Accounts.
  • Demonstrated ability to train and support staff while driving quality improvements.
  • Strong judgment in managing confidential information and high-stakes legal documentation.

Core Skills

  • Proficiency with medical terminology, documentation systems, and regulatory workflows.
  • Ability to assess priorities, delegate tasks, and meet regulatory timeframes.
  • Skilled in navigating inquiries from patients, attorneys, and internal departments.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, especially under pressure.

  • Pay Range: $23.54-$35.44
  • Reporting to Manager I, Health Information Management
  • Schedule: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST, Monday - Friday
  • Location: 633 Third Ave, New York, NY
