Staff Accountant- Payables

Job Summary

This position within our corporate accounting and shared services team will support the business by working with the accounts payable team to produce positive relationships between our business units and vendors. Keys for success in this position include strong organization and communication skills, attention to detail, and harnessing the power of incremental improvement. The right candidate will be service oriented and enjoy overcoming challenges.

Job Requirements

• Monitor and prioritize workflows and correspondence to ensure vendor needs are addressed promptly.
• This role includes data entry and transactional work. Transactional work includes:

• Onboarding and maintenance of vendors via master data change requests

1. Gathering and processing of invoice and/or credit documents

• Researching and responding to vendor inquiries. Resolving discrepancies discovered during vendor statement review.

• Assist in resolution of operations and vendor questions.
• Work closely with internal partners to understand the impact payable coding has on accuracy and completeness of financial results.
• Continually develop and train on software to optimize efficiency, accuracy, and reporting. Work with IT as necessary to improve software configuration to be proactive in prevention and detection of errors and/or suspicious transactions.
• Maintain process documentation, policies, and procedures related to accounts payable.
• Perform month-end accounts payable close processes.
• Perform 1099 reporting process at year-end.
• Perform other assignments as required.

Experience

• Previous accounts payable experience
• Good organizational and analytical skills
• SAP and OpenText experience are a plus

Education

• Associate degree in business-related field preferred, or commensurate experience
• 1 year or more experience in Microsoft Excel, including lookup functions and pivot tables
