Position Summary |
This position supports research in a translational, molecular epidemiology laboratory focused on malaria, syphilis, hepatitis, and other diseases of global health significance. It will include data management and analysis, manuscript and report writing, and coordination across diverse partners.
Duties will include but are not limited to, managing a research study database, conducting weekly data quality checks, engaging foreign partners to ensure high-quality data, cleaning data as needed, analyzing data for regular summary reports, and writing manuscripts and proposals, including supporting foreign partners who are not native English speakers.
This position is heavily focused on research project support in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The candidate must be fluent in French and have working knowledge of Lingala and Swahili. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
- Excellent communication skills, both in written and spoken English and French, are necessary for this position for manuscript and grant preparation.
- Experience working with diverse partners in low and middle-income countries, collaborating across fields, and engaging diverse stakeholders.
- Experience conducting and supporting infectious disease research in low- and middle-income countries.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
- Experience with grant and manuscript preparation.
- Fluency in written and spoken French. At least basic knowledge of Swahili and/or Lingala.
- Experience working in a highly collaborative, fast-paced research environment, ideally involving infectious diseases such as malaria, syphilis, and/or hepatitis.
- Previous experience working with international partners, particularly those in Africa.
- Experience with infectious disease project support and management.
- Experience and comfort with R coding language and REDCap or similar database.
- Ability to perform varied tasks including challenging data management and analysis.
- Ability to store and access research samples, reagents, and supplies as needed to support projects.
