The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) invites you to apply today to be considered for a position that provides customer service to the citizens of Maryland every day. The MTA is one of the largest transit systems in the United States and is seeking dynamic and energetic individuals to join the MTA team.
This is an MTA position-specific recruitment for a generic job classification. The resulting list of eligibles will be used under TSHRS to staff this MTA position or function only. You will need to reapply for any future generic or job specific recruitment for this job classification.
The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is recruiting for a DOT Non-Exempt IV (Metro Field) who will monitor Metro Train Operators for schedule adherence, operational compliance to MTA rules and procedures, monitoring Metro Station Attendants operational compliance to MTA rules and procedures, equipment functionality of Metro trains, stations, and facilities for cleanliness.
This position is tasked with the responsibility of delivering safe, efficient, reliable, public transportation, as well as other duties as required/assigned.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Monitor train operators for adherence to the published schedules and monitor operator and station attendance compliance. May assist MOCC with rescheduling service.
Monitor station attendants for compliance
Conduct Safety Rules Compliance Program (SRCP) testing
Coordinate with MOCC to assist train operators during service disruptions and system issues
Monitor radio communications and respond as directed
Document various compliance reports and other reports required by Field Management
Complete tasks as assigned by Metro Senior Management
May investigate and resolve complaints received from customers regarding schedule adherence, operator compliance to MTA rules and regulations, facility conditions, service conditions, and violations of full compliance initiatives
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Five years of experience in a transit system and/or transportation operation. *One year of experience in rail operations is required and a proven track record of providing high-quality customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.

SUBSTITUTION INFORMATION:
1. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Transportation, Business Administration, Management or a related field may be substituted for the experience at a rate of thirty credit hours for each year of the required experience, for up to two years of the experience.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policies, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Employees are subject to call-in 24 hours a day and will be required to maintain a
reliable communication link for the purpose of emergency call back requirements.
2. Employees are required to work shifts, evenings, holidays, and weekends.
3. Employees are required to travel to various locations throughout the MTA service
area.
4. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in
accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations 49- Federal Department of
Transportation Drug Alcohol Testing Protocols and Federal Transit Administration Alcohol
Testing Rules.
