Now Hiring: Part-Time Food Programs Assistant

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 11:00 AM-4:00 PM

Hours: 25 hours per week

Pay Rate: $14.50/hour

At The Salvation Army, every role is an opportunity to make a real difference. As a Food Programs Assistant, you'll help ensure that individuals and families in need have access to nutritious food and vital resources.

What You'll Do:




  • Prepare and assist with the delivery of food distributions for clients.



  • Assist with stocking, organizing, and cleaning the food pantry and shelter kitchen areas.



  • Label food items according to food safety standards, rotate stock, and remove expired or outdated items.



  • Follow health department sanitation guidelines, including trash and recycling removal, and report any sanitation concerns (such as pests) to your supervisor.



  • Accurately record and track all incoming and outgoing food donations and purchases; assist with data entry of pantry applications in SIMS.



  • Assist in unloading and organizing food donations and purchases.



  • Instruct, train, and assist volunteers, ensuring adherence to The Salvation Army policies and procedures.



  • Attend scheduled meetings, Social Services events, and all required trainings.



  • Maintain confidentiality of client information and follow Safe From Harm guidelines.



  • Foster a positive work atmosphere through professional, respectful communication with clients, coworkers, and supervisors.




What We're Looking For:

Education & Certifications:




  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.



  • Food Handler Certification preferred.




Experience:




  • One (1) year of experience in social services or food programs preferred.




Skills & Abilities:




  • Team player with the ability to work independently.



  • Service-oriented and passionate about helping others.



  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.



  • Knowledge of safe food handling practices.



  • Valid Driver's License required; must meet The Salvation Army Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) standards.
