The School of Arts and Sciences ( SAS) is the largest academic unit at Rutgers University and the center of the undergraduate experience on the Rutgers-New Brunswick campus and is comprised of 41 academic departments spanning the liberal arts. Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Program Coordinator I (Curricula & Assessment) for the Office of Undergraduate Education within the School of Arts & Sciences ( SAS). Provides high-level support for the Office of Undergraduate Education, the SAS Curriculum Committee (CC), and the SAS Core Requirements Committee ( CRC). Compiles and prepares materials for all CC and CRC meetings and prepares reports of committees' actions for the SAS Faculty and for review by sister schools.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Serves as the primary person responsible for curricular forensics and data verification, to include data gathering, data analysis for both text and numerical data, and reporting for various OUE functions and initiatives for varied and diverse audiences.
  • Reviews and prepares materials for CRC and CC review, and subsequent SAS faculty review.
  • Coordinates SAS assessment reporting and verification with SAS departments.
  • Works closely with the Vice Dean of Undergraduate Education, the Senior Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education, and the Associate Director of Administration.
  • Serves as liaison within and outside the unit and assists departments and OUE with ongoing catalog updates.
  • Works independently with minimal supervision, within established work parameters, with few direct instructions.
  • Carries out routine and non-routine tasks with occasional review of work outputs by supervisor.
  • Performs professional work that requires knowledge of general administrative/office management principles and practices and a good understanding, use, and application of concepts, theories, principles, practices, terminology, and applied bases of departmental administration.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

  • A bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • A minimum of two years relevant experience in a program coordination or administrative function.

Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong proofreading and editing skills.
  • Strong MS Office skills, specifically in Excel but also in Word and Power Point.
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, eagerness to learn, and computer literacy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years' experience in higher education. Experience with basic statistical analysis. Sophisticated Excel knowledge.
  • Excellent proofreading skills.
  • A broad understanding of Rutgers University and the School of Arts and Sciences, academic departments, student services, higher education practice and the responsibilities of an Office of Undergraduate Education.
  • Prior experience using Rutgers and SAS systems.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience working with faculty and be an effective and thoughtful communicator.
  • A genuine interest in higher ed curriculum and curriculum development preferred.

  • Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint; Adobe PDF, Microsoft Outlook Email/Calendar; DocuSign, SAS Course Catalog Proposal system, REGIS, CourseAtlas, University Course Scheduling System, Degree Navigator, Master Course List, Canvas, and other Rutgers systems.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Must be available to work a limited number of evenings and weekends each semester for SAS special events such as SAS Convocation, SAS Admitted Student Open House, or other events requested by Vice Dean.
  • Must be punctual and available during core business hours to meet operations needs of office OUE leadership team. This position must coordinate competing priorities.
  • Must be able to handle interruptions and quickly re-establish focus on multiple tasks at hand on a continual basis.
  • In office location with stairs.
