Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Program Coordinator I (Study Abroad Recruiter/Advisor) for the Global Education department. Reporting to the Assistant Director, the position is responsible for recruiting and advising students for a diverse portfolio of study abroad programs.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Study Abroad Advising
- Advises students on a variety of topics related to study abroad, including program opportunities, study abroad policies, financial aid and scholarship resources, and travel logistics.
- Assists students with applications and eligibility requirements. Ensures students complete pre- and post-admission paperwork, including course selection, housing, and related materials.
- Communicates Study Abroad policies on finances, academics, health and safety, and gender-specific concerns.
- Researches and provides students with entry requirements for host countries, assisting with visa applications and residence permits.
Financial Aid Advising
- Provides personalized advisement on financial aid resources for study abroad, including scholarships, grants, and loans.
- Assists students in budgeting for study abroad experiences and offer guidance on managing finances effectively.
- Researches and disseminates information on external scholarships tailored to study abroad.
Recruitment and Outreach
- Plans and conducts informational events to promote programs and increase enrollment.
- Collaborates with the Marketing Coordinator and Advising team to develop program-specific materials and coordinate outreach efforts.
- Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates peer advisors and student global ambassadors.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Minimum of two years professional experience in the field of international education or appropriate combination of education and experience abroad.
- Proficiency in a foreign language.
- Previous experience studying and/or working abroad.
- Experience working with diverse student populations.
