RN Quality Improvement Coordinator

This Quality Improvement role is a hybrid position which oversees the OB / Maternal program for CHE hospitals (Troy and Farmington Hills). On site presence will be required as needed to support the clinical team's quality initiatives. The role will also be a part of the CH Maternal Health system Quality team to support system wide OB quality initiatives as needed.

Job Summary

The RN Quality Improvement Coordinator utilizes clinical expertise to identify patient safety concerns or trends and patient outcomes to assesses the hospital's quality of care, promotes patient safety throughout the continuum of care and leads teams to improve quality and patient safety. Is directly involved in hospital committees and process initiatives to assist leadership with creating process improvements designed to optimize care, quality, and patient safety related performance improvement activities. Is responsible for maintaining program specific preparedness and is directly involved in developing a performance improvement plan that aligns with current clinical practice guidelines. Works closely with interdisciplinary team members to implement quality initiatives to improve the quality and safety of care and improve health outcomes. Prepares for and participates in regulatory activities such as the Joint Commission verification site visits. Is directly involved in reporting visit findings and meeting requirements for improvement when identified.

Essential Functions
  • Utilizes data for data analysis, trending and reporting to enhance patient care and safety improvements. Utilizes data to drive best practice for quality and safety improvements within and across care delivery settings.
  • Responsible for analyzing and processing appropriate reports to provide the necessary data to meet pay-for-performance, regulatory, state and national requirements.
  • Assist department/physician leadership with standards and report interpretation and recognition of trends and PI opportunities.
  • Coordinates program specific requirements to ensure preparedness for onsite regulatory visits.
  • Works independently with all levels of hospital management, (including Senior Administration), nursing providers, and Physician Chiefs with the purpose of assisting leaders to successfully achieve specific quality and patient safety targets and meet program requirements.
  • Educates leadership and medical staff regarding regulatory and accrediting requirements, industry guidelines and practices, and safety performance improvement initiative.
  • Provides clinical and performance improvement subject matter expertise to departments, nursing units, medical staff and clinical operations.
  • Initiates/participates in interdisciplinary projects to improve organizational performance related to quality and patient safety.
  • Assists healthcare providers to progress with quality measures through the development and implementation of effective strategies and interventions.
  • Works independently to seek out resources and identify quality and process improvement opportunities.
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • 3 years of relevant experience in patient safety activities and/or clinical quality improvements
  • LIC-Registered Nurse (RN) - State of Michigan Upon Hire

Preferred

  • Master's Degree in nursing, business or healthcare field
  • OB / Maternal experience
