YOUR IMPACT As a member of the Private Bank Global Risk Governance team (based in Dallas), you will play a key role in a growing business, where you will be part of a team that builds, manages and oversees the Private Bank's risk governance and controls framework, in order to deliver efficiencies and manage and mitigate various risks, always in a manner that enables excellence in execution for its clients. This role will be working directly with the Private Bank Management team and other senior stakeholders across the firm. Goldman Sachs Private Bank The Private Bank is a business unit of the Asset and Wealth Management Division (AWM) that provides tailored lending and banking products, such as bank loans, mortgages, deposits and margin financings, to ultra-high-net-worth clients of the firm's global Wealth Management businesses. The Private Bank has an ambitious growth agenda which will require more investment in appropriately managing operational and regulatory risks. The Private Bank has established a Global Risk Governance team to oversee and build out a robust risk governance and controls program, examine processes and procedures to drive increased business efficiency and profitability, and provide subject matter expertise as transactions move through the various risk and control frameworks. The principal areas of focus for the Risk Governance team are: (i) strategic uplifts and projects, (ii) transaction execution and controls governance, (iii) portfolio management and reporting, and (iv) regulatory oversight. The Risk Governance team is an integral part of the Private Bank's first line of defense. HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL
- Helping drive execution of the business strategy across multiple functions, including new product development, risk management, reporting, and service delivery.
- Overseeing Private Bank product risk governance to ensure the right policies and procedures are in place, by reviewing and establishing policies, procedures and controls across all Private Bank product types.
- Providing advisory services to the wider Private Bank on governance and transaction execution.
- Assisting with topics and materials for presentation at the quarterly Private Bank Risk Council.
- Establishing trusted partnerships with peers, functional leads, and executive level stakeholders.
- Collaborating with large groups of cross-divisional resources to advance business objectives, including Private Bank Lenders, Private Bank Underwriting and Portfolio Management, Private Bank Deposits, Operations, Technology, Credit Risk, Controllers, Legal, Compliance and Treasury, as well as entity, divisional and firm leadership.
- Supporting the management of large-scale projects and business priorities; project management responsibilities could include leading cross-divisional working groups, establishing and managing project timelines and key deliverables.
- Devising action plans in response to regulator and internal feedback to ensure the Private Bank has the right controls, policies and procedures to mitigate and manage risk from a first line of defense and ensure such action plans are implemented in a timely manner.
- Assisting with the Risk, Control and Self-Assessment (RCSA) including coordinating and executing requirements per Firmwide standards.
- Managing multiple tasks and use of sound judgment when prioritizing.
- Coordinating and assisting with the Private Bank's regulatory reporting.
- Maintaining external knowledge of regulatory/compliance expectations, industry trends and emerging threats/risks.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- A Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of relevant professional experience within financial services.
- Proven track record of leading and managing risk management frameworks within the financial services industry.
- Familiarity with enterprise risk management best-practices and controls.
- Proficiency in data analysis, and risk reporting.
- General understanding of regulatory compliance requirements and industry best practices.
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex data and provide strategic insights.
- Clear English communication skills (verbal and written). Strong leadership presence and able to present and communicate status and risks and technical details with impact and influence.
- Must be independent, creative, and comfortable with fast-paced, ambiguous, and often multi-directional work.
- Self-motivated and proactive team player, who takes ownership and accountability of projects, as well as the ability to effectively manage competing priorities within deadlines.
- Adaptable and able to work well under pressure.
- A desire to learn new skills and grow.
- Prior experience of working within a global investment bank would be a plus.
