We are looking for a Laser Operator (Panel Bender) to join our 100% EMPLOYEE-OWNED team.

Shift: Monday - Friday 3:30 pm - 12:00 am

Minimum Job Requirements


  • Physical- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. with assistance. The capability of standing and bending over for long periods while performing manual labor and visually inspecting highly cosmetic parts with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Working Hours- Full-time Employment (40hrs/week).
  • Personal Traits- Excellent communication skills with positive teamwork and a safety attitude. Conscientious attention to detail and accuracy, while able to multitask and troubleshoot. Possess the willingness and ability to effectively pass on personal fabrication knowledge to fellow employees of lesser ability.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for using furnished tools, such as CNC programs, job set-up sheets, job travelers, and current part prints to establish tooling and machine set-ups that will produce parts that run safely, efficiently, and consistently enough to meet or exceed the customer's requirements. Manufacture parts per job traveler. Drive a company forklift if trained.


  • Work safely and proactively correct hazardous conditions. Follow company safety procedures.
  • The ability to set up and operate a variety of fabrication equipment and hand tools as trained, including:

    • Run timesaver or other deburring machinery including hand and power tools to remove burrs and sharp edges and shape parts according to specifications.
    • Riveting tools
    • Rollers
    • Shear
    • Insertion machines

  • Follow all company policies and procedures outlined in the handbook and other company documents.
  • Ensure the highest quality standards are met with all work done.
  • Ensure output meets required deadlines while executing the above.
  • Ensure that the ISO/AS quality system and safety procedures are followed.
  • Ensure all tools required to complete the job are supplied.
  • Set up and run all jobs per above, including first-time runs.
  • Edit programs at the machine as needed.
  • Work independently and multitask.
  • Perform routine, preventative maintenance, and upkeep of fabrication department equipment and tooling as trained.
  • Ensure departmental communication is accurate and effective.
  • Audit the work completed to ensure the highest quality standards are met.
  • Punctually arrive at work and be willing to work overtime when needed.
  • Accurately maintain the MES system as instructed.
  • Maintain a neat and clean work area.
  • Other ad hoc duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


  • Ability to set up and run production parts safely and within quality and efficiency expectations using one or more CNC machines, comprised of Laser, Turret, Brake Press (manual or robotic), or Panel Bender.
  • Considerable knowledge to perform routine and preventative maintenance and upkeep equipment and instruments used as trained.
  • Ability to interpret data from manual measurements and make adjustments to processes to achieve dimensional and visual compliance
  • Ability to edit programs on the machine.
  • Ability to assist in driving continuous improvement through improving the processes, reducing cycle time, reducing setup time, and other methods as needed
  • Ability to set up and run production parts within quality and efficiency expectations after training to operate shop equipment safely.
  • Interpret shop drawings, work packets & fabrication set-up sheets
  • Possesses good math, writing, and computer skills.
  • Understand and use basic measurement tools in the fabrication process, including, but not limited to, tape measures, calipers, etc.
  • Be proficient in quality assurance self-checks that pass all internal & external quality control inspections
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of metal fabrication hand tools

Education and Experience


  • 2 years of experience in a similar function or education instead of experience.
  • Experience with a laser operation preferred.
