ACARA Solutions and our client in Middletown, RI have a contract-to-hire position available.

Advanced Electrical Engineer
This position, after a few months can possibly be worked Hybrid.
  • As an Advanced Electrical Engineer for the Progeny Systems Business Area, you'll be a member of or lead a cross functional team dedicated to the development of military-grade electronics and underwater acoustic systems.
  • Analyze and design analog and digital electronic circuits including signal conditioning, power, analog-to-digital conversion, transformers, inductors, amplifiers, and communication
  • Integrate, test, troubleshoot, and verify electrical hardware
  • Develop test criteria and assist in the design of test systems including test software applications
  • Perform component and architecture trade studies to determine optimal system solutions
  • Design, analyze, and test underwater acoustic systems
  • Design and build prototype cable assemblies
  • Perform solder rework of prototype circuit card assemblies
  • Develop technical presentations, recommendations, and written communications to explain technical issues to program management and the Navy customer
  • Generate design and interface documentation
Job Requirements
Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Science or Engineering or Mathematics
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in engineering development life cycle, including concept, requirements, design, implementation and test phases
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in op-amps and transistors
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with analog and digital circuit design including signal integrity principles
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with transformers and inductors, and how to size them including key parameters such as flux density magnetizing current, leakage inductance, transformer and inductors losses and temperature rise.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in common communication interfaces such as Ethernet, RS-485, USB, CAN bus, LVDS, and protocols such as TCP and UDP
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in all phases of PCB design, including: creation of high-level functional and architectural diagrams, SPICE analysis, power analysis, component selection, schematic entry (OrCAD Capture experience a plus), and working with the PCB layout team to optimize placement, signal integrity, fitment.
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree
  • Experience with the following battery systems, electric motors, and MATLAB programming
  • Familiarity with underwater acoustic principles
  • Strong documentation and communication skills
