Description
The Staff Research Associate IV (SRA IV) serves as lab technical manager in overseeing transgenic and knockout mouse facilities consisting of 40 lines up to 3,600 mice.You willalso serves as Technique expert in genetic, molecular, cellular, and behavior neuroscience animal research projects. The SRA IVProvides scientific and experimental support for new and ongoing projects. This particular area of research concerns cognitive disabilities, and neurological and psychiatric diseases.You willsupervise staff personnel, academic apprentice personnel, and student personnel. You will also oversee lab budgeting, ordering, and supply management. Please note this is a full-time 2-month limited position and may convert to career. Salary Range: $73046.78 - $117544.05/Annually
Qualifications
Required:
- Masters degree in Biology required, Ph.D. degree
preferred A minimum of 6 years laboratory experience with molecular and transgenic and knockout mice facility. - Knowledge of UCLA animal using, handling and
facilities regulations and procedures. Certified by UCLA on rodent animal use and surgery. - Technical expertise and working knowledge of biochemistry,
molecular biology and cell biology including DNA, RNA purification, PCR, RT PCR, Real-Time PCR, Western blotting, Northern blotting, immunohistochemistry, cell culture, etc. - Excellent organizational
and multi-tasking abilities. Ability to initiate, respond, complete and follow up on special requests and projects independently. - Demonstrated proficiency using Mac & PC on
word, excel, PowerPoint processing for record keeping, electrophysiology data analyzing. Ability to oversee and maintain laboratory computer network, communicate with computer expert to update and backup the network system. - Demonstrated to work independently and follow
through on assignment. - Ability to maintain and complete accurate records.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of budgetary matters regarding cost analysis of lab equipment.
- Track record of scientific contributions
including peer reviewed publications, patent applications, and/or presentations at major national meetings.
Preferred:
- Working knowledge of purchasing policies and procedures; effective negotiating skills in purchasing.
- Demonstrated training and leadership skills. Experience mentoring laboratory staff including SRA, lab assistants, and/or students.
