Act Local Program Manager
Act Local is a micromarketing program that builds brand awareness and leads for Comerica Bank through community outreach, business development, sponsorships, and events. The Act Local manager creates the annual program scope and strategy, manages the program budget, and oversees the Act Local Specialist role/s. This position must be able to train and develop specialists to identify opportunities, build customer and prospect relationships, and manage events. The Act Local Manager collaborates with all levels of Comerica colleagues but most often the MARCX executive leadership team, Retail and Small Business leadership team, Field Marketing Team, Charitable contributions, and External Affairs to set strategic objectives and priorities for the bank. Comerica Community Space for Nonprofits.
Serve as a program manager for Act Local priorities and initiatives.
- Develop a comprehensive Act Local program strategy for Comerica, including target audience identification and market expansion plan.
- Train and develop Act Local specialist role on program strategy and approach.
- Connect and collaborate with colleagues, local leaders, and organizations in target area on ways Comerica can bring value to the community.
- Manage community sponsorships and associated relationships.
- Set Community Engine calendar priorities and manage our vehicle vendor partner, Trilogy.
- Plan strategic events internally with leadership and externally with community partners.
- Organize project plans with multiple elements and deliverable deadlines.
- Monthly program reporting to MARCX leadership.
- Manage budget effectively (Budget approximately $650k annually)
Position Responsibilities:
Marketing Strategy
- Develop Act Local annual strategy and pilot innovative marketing ideas for community outreach, business development, sponsorships, and events that align with the strategy.
- Engage with local leaders, business owners, and event organizers on opportunities for community impact and brand exposure.
- Improve and document best practices to drive continual optimization.
- Collaborate with MARCX colleagues (digital, media, brand teams), field marketing, retail and line of business leaders (esp. small business), and agency partners (Type A Plan B, Occam).
Community and Business Development
- Work with Comerica leadership to identify Act Local community outreach target area.
- Build a neighborhood portfolio by nurturing local business and community relationships.
- Spread awareness and demand for Comerica's Community resources -- Community Space, Community Engine, and Shred Sites.
- Work synergistically with MARCX colleagues, Comerica LOBs, and External Affairs to connect with local community and build brand awareness.
- Manage community sponsorships and associated relationships.
- Oversee Community Space for Nonprofit use within CoWorkSpaces.
- Set strategy and scope for the Community Engine and manage vendor partner, Trilogy.
Event Planning and Execution
- Consult, plan, and execute multiple events and sponsorships including but not limited to appearances with the community engine. Act Local events range from parades, 5k races, local school festivals, community sports events, and Comerica BRG/ ERG driven events.
- Proactively consult with manager, MARCX colleagues, retail and small business leadership, and other key bank stakeholders to identify, define, and activate planned activity.
- Work with Act Local program manager to verify and manage calendar, budget, timing, and other executional parameters.
- Communicate and coordinate the involvement of appropriate internal stakeholders to maximize impact and experience.
- Execute plans that may include coordination of meetings and communications in advance of the event and in support of the ongoing event promotion.
Process Management & Other Duties, as assigned
- Effectively manage program and initiatives within parameters of approved MARCX and ESG processes and procedures; maintain Comerica Brand Standards set for forth by MARCX.
- Responsible for oversight of regulatory expectations, including creative asset and target market approvals.
- Proactively manage scheduled activities and established lead times to improve turnaround time and minimize incremental vendor costs; also provide adequate and accurate information during the creation of event briefs (i.e. Community Engine event briefs).
- Work closely with Business HQ and CoWorkSpaces manager to collaborate on best practices and the nonprofit experience.
- Follow approved Marketing processes including working appropriately with internal teams and external teams such as creative agencies and technology partners.
Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university
- 10 years of experience in sales and marketing professional with event planning experience
Work Best Category: Category C - Days in the office will either be designated days or will vary week to week from 2-5 days
Hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday
