Job Summary

Join our dynamic distribution team as a Material Handler Class I, specializing in operating motorized industrial equipment to efficiently load and unload trucks, transport materials, and maintain organized inventory within our facility. This role is essential to ensuring timely and accurate product movement, supporting overall supply chain operations during nights and weekend shifts.

Primary Duties

  • Operate a variety of motorized industrial equipment including sit-down forklifts, stock pickers, and reach trucks safely and efficiently to handle materials within the distribution center.
  • Conduct thorough pre-operation inspections and daily maintenance checks on equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
  • Adhere strictly to established standard operating procedures and safety regulations, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Utilize hand-held and truck-mounted radio frequency (RF) scanners for accurate product identification, inventory management, and order fulfillment.
  • Maintain precise documentation and logs related to equipment usage, maintenance, and work assignments, ensuring clear communication and record-keeping.
  • Execute work order instructions with high attention to detail to perform assignments across various facility areas, contributing to overall workflow efficiency.
  • Contribute actively to workplace safety and housekeeping standards by keeping work areas clean, organized, and hazard-free.
  • Collaborate with team members during department meetings and participate in ongoing projects aimed at operational improvements.
  • Be flexible to rotate through different positions or job responsibilities as business needs dictate, enhancing team versatility and coverage.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, demonstrating adaptability and commitment to team success.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of company-mandated motorized industrial equipment certification and licensing exams.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
  • Basic mathematical skills to accurately count, measure, and record inventory and shipments.
  • Physical ability to meet job demands, including lifting up to 50 pounds regularly, reaching, bending, and carrying items across facility locations.
  • Proven track record of punctuality, reliability, and willingness to work overtime when required to meet operational needs.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment by adhering to safety policies and procedures consistently.
  • Effective communication skills to engage in team discussions, report issues proactively, and support a cooperative workplace atmosphere.
  • Ability to adapt to rotating job assignments and varying tasks, embracing continuous learning and flexibility in role duties.
  • Experience in a distribution or warehouse setting is advantageous but not mandatory, as comprehensive training will be provided.

Education / Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • Alternatively, one to three months of related experience and/or training in material handling, warehouse operations, or a similar field.
  • An equivalent combination of education and practical experience will be considered to fulfill qualification requirements.
