We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Director II Treasury on our Finance team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 3 days a week in the office.

This position in
collaboration with the VP Treasurer direct the cash management, investment,
credit and collection functions of the Treasury area and in the maximization of
earnings and the safeguarding of assets in the investment portfolios.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Investments & Treasury Functions

  • Oversee the administration, accounting, and budgeting for the investment management activities of the AMA, AMA defined benefit and contribution plans, and affiliated entities in an effort to maximize earnings within acceptable risk tolerances, with portfolio values in excess of $1 billion.
  • Oversee the investment performance reporting process for the AMA, and Deferred Compensation in conjunction with input from the Corporate Treasurer.
  • Build relationships with banks and investment advisors, including the AMA investment portfolios, and the AMA's 401(k) plan.
  • Oversee the cash management and treasury functions of the Association in such a way as to maximize investment revenues through effective cash management making maximum use of bank services in a cost-effective manner.
  • Review AMA corporate contracts in the contract management system for appropriate business terms and compliance with AMA policy.

Financial Policies & Operations

  • Develop and maintain efficient and effective credit policies that safeguard the Association from risk of loss without impairing the Association's ability to expand business operations in a prudent fashion.
  • Serve as a key advisor to the Corporate Treasurer in the formation of financial policies and strategies, analysis of business developments and situations, and development of financial reporting and analysis.
  • Assist in the preparation of the following presentations to the Board Finance Committee: annual investment policy review; annual investment manager review; annual reserve policy review and special topics as required, as well as report to the AMA Finance Committee on all investment results and investment manager selections.

Staff Management

  • Lead, mentor, evaluate, and develop assigned staff with varied professional disciplines, ensuring they are integrated into work and discussions across the unit.
  • Set direction, objectives, and project priorities.

May include other responsibilities as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor's Degree with major in Accounting or Finance required. MBA or CPA preferred.
  2. Minimum of 10 years' treasury experience required; experience in both a corporate setting and a for-profit organization preferred.
  3. Minimum of 5 years' experience in people management; must be able to manage and develop talent through ongoing training, mentoring, measurement, and feedback.
  4. Successful experience and in-depth expertise in cash management and investment management crucial for success.
  5. Demonstrated experience in financial analysis, capital markets, treasury operations and debt management required.
  6. Excellent written communication skills required.
  7. Polished oral communication and presentation skills required to communicate with leadership.
  8. Strong interpersonal skills needed.
  9. Limited travel required.

This role is an exempt position, and the salary range for this position is $176,000-$234,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's pay within the salary range will be determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to business consideration, geographical location, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
