Under the direct supervision of the Pharmacy Director assists in monitoring, maintenance, drug inventory management and controlled substance diversion for drugs stored and dispensed through automated dispensing technology. This is accomplished through partnering with pharmacy leadership and staff in the optimization and proper functionality of all pharmacy storage and dispensing technology.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Optimization of drug inventory stored within pharmacy automation.
- Coordinate, plan and execute any automation add-ons or new hospital opening or hospital conversions
- Maintaining of the Automation Databases (creation of new users(students)/items/reports)
- An active member of pharmacy department and pharmacy council structure as it relates to the use and optimization of pharmacy automation across the system.
- Assists with evaluation of future medication automation products for all vendors considered beneficial to the organization
- Assists in the development and compliance with pharmacy automation policies and procedures.
- In partnership with site pharmacy automation technicians and pharmacy supervisors/manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations related to controlled substance management within pharmacy automation and supports controlled substance audits, diversion detection, and internal reporting as needed to department leadership.

Education and Experience *Bachelor's degree preferred *Minimum of 3 years of pharmacy related experience including: oCoordinate of pharmacy automation dispensing and storage technology. oControl substances security and accountability including the use of pharmacy automation technology in the detection of controlled substance diversion. *Project management experience in the planning, preparation, and implementation of drug and inventory control automation projects including user training. Certification and Licensure Eligible to obtain or hold IL Pharmacy Technician License & Pharmacy Technician Board Certification (PTCB) Skills and Abilities N/A Special Physical Demands The Special Physical Demands are considered Essential Job Function of the position with or without accommodations. Supervises Provides direction and oversight to the Automation Support Technicians and responsible for all aspects of automation system-wide.
