Position Description:

In the role of a Medical Education Coordinator I you will be working in our Surgery Department.

Summary

Develop, coordinate and manage medical student education programs as directed by the Clerkship Director and other Department of Surgery Education program leaders.k

Primary Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement the recruitment, interview, orientation, graduation and other education, fellowship and orientation to practice program activities.
  • Develop and maintain databases to track, schedule and record rotations, procedures and evaluations of advanced practice providers, fellows and students.
  • Implement institutional or program activities (e.g., educational events, training, learner recruitment, interviews, orientation, schedules, and graduation). Assist with scheduling for program functions and required events.
  • Provide support for departmental student programs, residency programs, fellowship programs, and CME programs.
  • Program support will include interactions with faculty, education staff, department administration, students, residents, and fellows.
  • Maintain working understanding of accreditation, board, and institutional requirements. Coordinate and monitor activities related to these requirements to ensure full compliance. Provide support for projects pertaining to medical student and residency requirements, as needed.
  • Monitor education event budgets.
  • Monitor programs to ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Maintain program accreditation, as applicable.
  • Track and monitor evaluations.
  • Design and create brochures, flyers and educational materials
  • Integrate and coordinate programs in conjunction with external policies and regulations.
  • Coordinate assessment and evaluation activities. Create evaluations for students, faculty, fellows, and residents. Track evaluation completion. Retrieve student program data as it pertains to faculty, housestaff, and service educational values.
  • Coordinate the rotation schedules of preceptors, fellows and student.
  • Troubleshoot problems and advocate for students, fellows and advanced practice providers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge - Skills - Abilities

  • Knowledge of computers, clerical procedures, customer service standards, collaboration, and information management.
  • Organization, time management, interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills.

Preferred Schedule:




Monday through Friday 8:00-4:30



Position Requirements:

Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on equivalent basis.

Minimum Required Education: Bachelor's degree

Minimum Required Experience: 2 years

Preferred Experience: Educational programs such as ABOS, OITE, AAOS, ERAS, Ethos, CE, iRotations, Oasis, and New Innovations, D2L

Physical Requirements: Work requires occasionally lifting moderate weight materials, standing, or walking continuously.
