Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Deputy Title IX Coordinator supports the Title IX Coordinator in ensuring institutional compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and LSCS Policy and Procedures. The Deputy Title IX Coordinator, under the direction of the Executive Director, Ethics and Compliance Services, plays a critical role in the response to allegations of discrimination, harassment, or related relations based on a protected class, including sexual assault and sexual harassment. This position assists in the development and implementation of the College's required education, training, and outreach programming to students, employees, and designated responsible authorities charged to administer LSCS Policies and Chancellor's Procedures.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Assist in implementing the College's Sexual Misconduct policies and procedures.

2. Receive and process reports of alleged violations of the College's Sexual Misconduct Policy and Procedures to include:

a. Prompt, effective, and equitable intake, investigation, processing, issuing of findings of fact, and timely resolution of incidents

b. Appropriate notices; identification of applicable procedures; ensuring interim measures; compliance with timelines; remedies, or resolutions.

c. and providing a repository for and source of institutional record-keeping.

3. Implements, under direction, the Title IX complaint and investigation function, ensuring appropriate review of reports and the completion of the process according to LSCS Policy and Procedure.

4. Conducts training and prevention programs for faculty, staff, and other stakeholders with regard to Title IX and the LSCS Sexual Misconduct Policy.

5. Conducts, in collaboration with the Title IX Coordinator, internal quality reviews with regard to all Title IX regulatory requirements which include but are not limited to sexual harassment, sexual assault, pregnant and parenting students and employees, sports, and obtaining reasonable assurance that students are not discriminated on the bases of sex in any program or practice.

6. Stays abreast of current and proposed compliance-related legislation and enforcing regulations to support the department in mitigating legal challenges, recommending new procedures, current trends, best practices, and complying with legal requirements.

7. Continuously reviews and analyzes operations within the areas of Sexual Misconduct/Title IX to seek opportunities to improve services, ensuring compliance with all applicable internal and external rules, regulations, and guidelines, as well as with LSCS policies and procedures.

8. Serve as a facilitator of Informal Resolution during the incident resolution process where applicable.

9. Serve as acting Title IX Coordinator in their absence

10. Maintains accurate, confidential records of all incidents received and completed.

11. Create statistical data reports and analysis to inform stakeholders and identify trends to drive intervention strategies.

12. Responsible for other reasonably-related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Analysis skills AND knowledge of the application of information pertaining to Federal, State, and local regulations and policy
  • Critical thinking, investigative, and synthesis skills with regard to reviewing information, determining needed information, and determining how and where to get that information
  • Knowledge of how the organization works, not only in a functional sense, but in a relational sense
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills when dealing with both parties, witnesses, and affected business unit leadership

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in Title IX or Sexual Misconduct investigations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in Human Resources, Student Affairs, or other related field
  • Juris Doctorate
  • Experience in higher education investigations or compliance
Salary

Hiring salary range is $58,625-$67,419

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education.
