Scientist II - HTP and CHO Cell Culture

Summary:
Plan, coordinate and perform high throughput expression of biotherapeutic proteins using suspension CHO cells at various scales (plate based, tube based and flask based) with automated platforms; Determine key cell-culture parameters and interpret findings.
Responsibilities:
- Transfection, Culture monitoring, Harvest, Titer determination and Western blot analysis as needed.
- Design and produce DNA for use in transient and stable transfections. Perform molecular biology techniques as necessary: cloning, DNA scale up, sequencing analysis.
- Evaluate new technologies and process changes to improve the productivity, quality and consistency of the expression processes.
- Independently interpret, communicate and present results through reports and internal presentations.
- Work closely with counterparts from other functional areas to deliver on research milestones while adhering to broad project timelines.
- Comply with all applicable regulations, perform all work in a safe manner; maintain proper records in accordance with SOP's and policies.
- Contributes to lab organization, reagent tracking and other tasks as determined appropriate
Skills or Requirements:
- Thorough understanding of cell culture basics.
- Hands-on experience in cell culture (mammalian) and exceptional aseptic techniques.
- Strong attention to details and excellent organizational skills.
- Able to learn quickly and excel in a past-faced work environment; self-motivation, adaptability and positive attitude.
- Hands-on experience in handling automation/HTP antibody expression is a plus
- Ability to work in plate based formats (24 well, 96 well)
- Knowledge of DNA and molecular biology including basic DNA quality assessments
- Apply knowledge of basic theory and scientific principles
- Concise and accurate reporting of technical data and information
- Ability to troubleshoot and multi-task
- Ability to work in team-oriented environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution with
- three-plus (3+) years of experience in related scientific discipline,
- or Master's Degree from an accredited institution in related scientific discipline
- Non-PhD applicant required.
