Summary of Job Duties:The Department of Computer Science at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock seeks
applications from dedicated and creative professionals for a tenure-track assistant professor
faculty position. Successful candidates will join an energetic and collaborative faculty of a
growing department. This position requires excellent teaching and curriculum development
skills, demonstrated success in scholarly publishing, and a strong potential for grant funding.
Additionally, candidates must demonstrate a commitment to service within the department,
university, local industry, and the broader discipline of computer science. A competitive salary is
budgeted. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy. Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • PhD in Computer Science or related discipline.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • Commitment to excellence in both graduate and undergraduate education;

  • Success in grant proposal writing and research funding;

  • Professional experience in the software industry;

  • Experience teaching a university-level course.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses;

  • Develop curriculum;

  • Establish and sustain independent research;

  • Produce scholarly publications in leading scientific journals;

  • Present at major conferences;

  • Work with major funding agencies;

  • Secure external funding;

  • Supervise graduate students;

  • Participate in and contribute to major professional societies;

  • Participate in shared faculty governance and departmental committees;

  • Contribute through research, teaching, and service to the diversity and excellence of the learning experience to train the next generation of computer scientists;

  • Foster relationships with representatives of the Central Arkansas computing industry;

  • Perform other duties as needed in the department, college, and university.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • In-depth knowledge in a subdiscipline of computer science, e.g., AI, ML, AR/VR, SE, networks and communications, computer graphics, and data visualization;

  • Knowledge and understanding of grant writing and management;

  • Technical writing skills - journal and conference papers;

  • Skills in teaching modalities, e.g., flipped classrooms, online synchronous and asynchronous modalities;

  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues;

  • Effectively direct graduate and undergraduate student research.
