The Emergency Communications division of the Department of Emergency Services is looking for qualified applicants for the Part-time Emergency Communications Radio Dispatcher position. The Emergency Communications Radio Dispatcher will dispatch medical and fire emergency calls over the radio, track emergency vehicle and responder locations, utilize multiple software and technology programs simultaneously, and accurately document incident and call information. Hours and schedule for this position include weekends, holidays, and shift work, utilizing open shift scheduling. With this system, available shifts will be posted a month in advance, and the part-time employee can sign up based on their availability. Job Description
Alternates between regional and state radio systems to dispatch incidents in counties other than Johnson County; maintains working knowledge of the MARRS console; understands and utilizes radio console functions such as alert tones, channel patching, and multi-selecting; ensures working knowledge of 10 different department radio assignments, locations of approximately 50 stations, apparatus and capabilities; performs responder safety checks; and complies with Radio Performance Standards and JCFESCA Model Procedures.
