Position Overview
Assessment & Technology Solutions (ATS) and The Achievement & Assessment Institute (AAI) with the University of Kansas (KU) design and deliver test content and technology through agile, innovative development.

The Curriculum and Assessment Specialist will support the production of curricular, professional development, and assessment resources. The Curriculum and Assessment Specialist will help with the workflow of content at multiple stages of the development process.

Successful applicants will demonstrate deep and thorough expertise with K-12 Standards and related performance expectations.

The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the U.S. by the effective date of the appointment. KU is not able to provide H-1B sponsorship for this position.

Job Description
80%
  • Perform curricular and assessment development tasks as well as professional development material creation under the supervision of more senior curriculum and assessment staff.
  • Use established development guidelines and processes to write, edit, and review assessment items.

20%
  • Review and provide feedback to other specialists and ATS Staff.
  • Ensure that developed materials are of high quality and developed according to specifications.
  • Collaborate with other specialists on issues related to test development.

Position Requirements
Depending on the center and team needs, well qualified candidates may be allowed a work type that is hybrid or remote. This position may be required to travel to Lawrence, Kansas occasionally. This position will require attendance at regularly scheduled meetings, onsite or through telecommunication platforms.

Eligible to work in the U.S. by the effective date of the appointment. (KU is not able to provide H-1B sponsorship for this position).

Required Qualifications
  1. A two year or four-year college degree.
  2. Three years' experience with ELA, Math, or Science content area, including curriculum and instruction.
  3. Three years' experience with standards and related practices, if applicable, and the measurement of them.
  4. Three years of experience creating high-quality curricular materials, including teacher-facing lesson plans and student activities.

Preferred Qualifications
  1. Three years of experience with third-grade standards, curriculum, and assessment.
  2. One year of experience with developing test items aligned to standards and practices for a variety of tests, including tests used for K-12 accountability and national benchmarks.
  3. Three years of experience with designing and delivering professional learning opportunities for educators.
